  1. Didn't even know there was a new series of Dr. Who. What does this make, nine Doctors, or only eight? Did the 1996 movie count?
  2. Halo, eh? (grin) I think I've got the models for the Longsword and the Pelican around somewhere...
  3. Good job, pixelmech! Apart from the other minor quibbles already mentioned, it looks like there's a slight crease in the body right near the top of the door frame, and the headlights are the wrong color... But still a damn fine job. Kudos!
  4. Constant-volume, or "CV" joints... Techno-Boob Second Class Sev
  5. Try coloring the inside of the ears with the same pink as the nose...
  6. Grubber: Aardman is a British claymation studio, known for "Wallace & Gromit" and the theatrical feature "Chicken Run".
  7. It's a model of a vase dissolving into particles and blowing away in the wind.
  8. Ok, I'm dense. What exactly is happening? Are you just animating between two textures, one solid and one a sprite emitter?
  9. John: Now that's just COOL. Thanks for sharing! Sev
  10. This is getting ridiculous.
  11. Don't forget the hatch for the homing bird-robot...or the wells for the spring jacks and saw blades...
  12. Modeling talk is one thing, but this is not a forum for people to proselytize their religion, philosophy, politics, or sports team. The whole rest of the Internet is available for that.
  13. John: I think you're onto something there... I can put some sort of mask with rectangular holes over the top of the round dots and apply in strips. Thank you! Sev
  14. I just wonder if there isn't a way to extract the model from the game and start from there... (I just got WoW last week, and it is the best MMORPG I've seen. Massive timesink without being boring...)
  15. Simply stunning, Jim. Truly. Any chance I could use her in a video I'm trying to make? (big longshot, but you never know...) You know, that kind of got me thinking about a "digital actor" concept. I find myself in the position of using the same A:M model for the same voice actress in two different productions, (because I can't model a straight spline to save my life!) and it just hit me that it's no different from a real actress being in two different movies. I wonder how long it will be before we see digital actors being reused and credited as their model name... Maybe I should set up a digital casting agency... Keep up the excellent work!
  16. One more thing--make sure if you're going to do something like this to rename any bones that have the same name in both models first. I had to rename Gala's "Root", "Neck" and "Head" in order for the relationships not to interfere with each other. Now, if I can get lip-sync to work, this will put me well on my way to making my film...
  17. That seemed to work. Now I just have to be able to pick an environment map image without A:M crashing... Anyone know off hand how/where to set the image name into the saved .MAT material file so I don't have to deal with the crashing picklist problem? (EDIT: Use the eyedropper tool and select an imported image from the image list in the PWS.) Oh, and to the person who requested the model, send me another msg, please. I accidentally erased the first.
  18. Yeah, that dawned on me last night. What I had done was import Gala into a second model window and did a "copy/paste with bones" on just the head. What I should have done was import her into the MC's model window and then tossed out the stuff of hers I didn't need. D'oh! I'll try that today.
  19. Sort of. I changed the diffuse color of the model to hide most of the gray patches, then I re-rigged it using TSM2. The good thing is that the new Halo 2 models come out skinned properly in the first place, it's just the old Halo 1 models that have the glitched UV maps. The only problem now is that when I chopped Gala's head off to put inside the helmet, the bones came over but none of the poses did, and when I try to transfer them between models they either don't work or distort the face in weird ways. I think it's probably due to the splines being renumbered, as most of the poses are direct spline manipulation by # instead of bones/smartskin poses. Oh well, if it was easy, it would be boring, right?
  20. Take 1 computer game model, scoop out its head, chop off an A:M model's head, stuff it in the helmet, put a pose slider on the visor, and... You can make something like this, too: (why you'd want to, I don't know.)
  21. ddustin is right--we've got some extremely talented folks in the GA/TN area. Definitely worth the trip!
  22. You can move me to "Probably" now. Granddaughter's birthday party is later that afternoon, so I should be able to make it.
  23. What time? EDIT: D'oh! Noon = 12:00pm. Sev = blind.
  24. Rats. I've got a birthday party for my granddaughter on the 12th. I don't suppose we could make it the 5th or the 19th?
