  1. You could always go for the "Fiat Lux" angle--start everything off in darkness or near-darkness, then suddenly "let there be light"...

  3. Will: Classic. Simply brilliant. You and Hash should work out a deal and print that up as a promo poster for A:M. I'd buy one!

  5. bump to supplement the 3DS discussion in the main forum...
  6. Odd, the previous reply doesn't show up in the post count for some reason...maybe this will jar it loose.
  7. I like it, Jack! In fact, I've been looking for a cartoon chicken model for quite a while. Any chance I could swipe it from you?
  8. Colin: Brutally honest? Okay.... (stares at it for several minutes....) Wait, I'll find something..... (stares for several more minutes...) Damn...hold on.... (gets a gallon of eyedrops...) Er, well...the fingernail outlines look a little odd? Maybe? (God, that's weak...) (mutters and paces...) Oh, forget it. Best. A:M Picture. Ever. There. Happy now?
  9. Ok, now that Halo 2 has come out with the player-controllable Elite, looks like all I need now is the Rigged Grunt, although I'm sure I'll need the Elite to be animatable at some point, too. The more I look at my project, the more I realize that if I try to do the A:M shots, it's going to look very amateurish, if not downright unwatchable. I would dearly love to see talented people do the script justice in A:M, yet since there's no money involved it's hard to ask the pros to do work gratis. There's one scene in particular that I think Christina "Smudge" Hanson could knock out of the ball park given the samples she's posted here, and you better believe that if I could afford to commission her, I would in a second! Anyway, assuming I won't hit the lottery any time soon, what's the best way to get some real help on a project? All but admitting defeat, Sev
  10. It would kick up dust as it landed even if there is no actual smoke produced.
  11. THe Grunt's the same way. It does work when you pull it in via the plugin, but there are a couple of gray patches still.
  12. Ok, it works when you use the 3DS Model Import plugin, but the decals don't show until you render it. I'm getting a few little phantom patches but they aren't as noteiceable as on the MC. Let me try the Grunt.
  13. I didn't. I just pulled it in as a Prop instead of a model and rendered that way. Let me try it as a model and see if I can duplicate the prob. Sev
  14. Anybody seen Roughy lately?
  15. Well, I did alter the color on the MC armor, but they all came from the game. (I think.)
  16. Here's what the rigged MC, that Elite prop and the Grunt prop look like together...
  17. Here's the Elite Elite Textured 3DS Here's the Grunt Grunt Textured 3DS They both import fine as props, but not as Models. Will they do?
  18. Ok, I'll see what I can do. Thanks!
  19. Hey, guys? (beg, beg, grovel, grovel) Any way you might be able to, um, do the Elite model too? Nah, forget I said anything...
  20. Cool! Glad somebody's getting a little profit off of it!
  21. Yep, that's the one. If you go to www.sponsorsvsfreeloaders.com you can see some more.
  22. Which one, "Warthog Motor Madness"? That was a lot of fun to do...
  23. Roughy: Technically true, but some jerks pirated their DVDs and plastered them on BitTorrents last season. The Sponsors also get hi-res versions of the videos three days early, plus the DVD of the season for free at the end of it. Season 3 will start this week, along with their new series The Strangerhood. Sev
  24. It doesn't like the premade Actions in 10.5r, (gets all twisted up) but apart from that, SIMPLY AWESOME. You guys are the coolest. If you want to see a short sample animated with the Halo engine (nothing A:M), click below. Special Bulletin (PG-13 version) (QuickTime, right-click, Save As 3.3MB) The announcer is actually George Lowe, voice of Cartoon Network's Space Ghost: Coast to Coast. He was kind enough to do some voiceovers for our various projects.
  25. Is there something I can do by hand to eliminate the bigger gray patches? I'm not so concerned with the smaller ones--looks like normal wear, or something. But there's at least one large one in any angle I can position the camera, though. Also, is it possible for me to copy and grayscale the main skin BMP to make it some sort of specularity map? The metallic bits are shiny in the game engine, and it would help the compositing if I could get a slight glint off of the plates. It's not a big deal if I can't do it, but surely that's within A:M's material capabiities, isn't it? Thanks, Sev
