rough pose idea using gradient material

dang, son how'd you do that???I need this idea for an ad I'm starting to make for my friend -
oh man...dude your rig is like..not too good to work with. I could rerig it for ya...your arms need to be more controllable than that. And there are no torso bones! I understand, though..you're new, right?

man I'd love to animate that guy...can ya post up the model file? I'd be happy to animate. Why don't you animate him like drawing out an iron web from his butt...that would be awesome...I'd do that for you when I got the time. Just send the white light set, the model, etc.

This a very great layout for a demo reel..a few things I have to say: If this is an "A:M demo reel" you must show all aspects of the way it works. Rigging, modeling, and animation. If you watch other demo reels (especially Rigging ones) there are sometimes subtitles of the way the rigging works (i.e. "total control with panel..." or something). For the modleing section you must have a little subtitle that states it's patch-based modeling, and the basic concepts of that. Have some closeups on wireframes with complex meshes (your car would be great)...show hooks and 5 pt. patches so they can see why patch modeling is great. For the animation part, I wouldn't consider that an animation section of the vid, at all. I suggest having at least 4/5 clips of animation if you want that. However, if this is an A:M reel I may suggest even taking out the animation part and replacing it with a rigging part. Then show some animation with the rig shown. Maybe have some subtitles that talk about the pose sliders, CP weighting, etc. If this was a modeling reel, this would be AWESOME. but the title says "A:M reel" so the material shown must correspond with the title shown. Make sure you're getting the message across that you want. All of the footage in here is perfecto, however just place them in the right spots at the right time.

10 minutes to copy and paste? Maybe exaggerating...my patch heavy cotton gin I made took about 1 minute to copy/paste stuff....I think it's pretty much impossible to sit at the comp just watching for ten minutes until the thing finally pops up there

Fantasy Scene - "Faith Of Evil"

I little mist of blood would come out, I think...I don't think that's "blood pouring from him"...just like blood spraying out because of the impact of the laser -
hahaha...I have never laughed at an animation as much as I just did. The gestures are HILARIOUS. The part when the middle guy is hitting the trash can...the movement is so funny (yet it's still great animation, no doubt). I also like how he reacts to the other guys hitting him. He looks at them both like "what the heck"...VERY GOOD.

the basic shapes are very well done...what about some bevels, though? Even just a bit around the edges of the holes
-
sweet! nice rendering too! It'd be real nice if you posted up the model file (hint*hint*)

Most animation looked awesome. For some reason the fight scene with the three (or four?) figures looked quite linear. Try to slip some clips in there that show squash and stretch. I'm guessing that in a demo reel you want to show that you apply all main principles of animation to your work. It seems that the reel ends at a cut off...add an end title, repeating the contact information, etc. Then if you add music after doing all that stuff, it'll be awesome

for some reason quicktime doesn't play it because it's missing "software"...I'm guessing it's DivX? If so, please post a direct link to the video file so I can save it and watch it

holy you did the background in the GIMP???? -
thanks guys! I'm really proud of it!
-
yes..I am going to get graded on this, and an essay that went along w/ it
-
John, I might add those ideas! thanks! The reason for the lack of creativity in props is because this was strictly for a project and I could only show the object...no props or anything else. Yeah! I was thinking about submitting it to a contest! I remembered that the history one has already passed!!
-
wait..I don't get it...so this is a real action figure now? Or did you render it to look like that... sorry..I'm very slow

for all your old shredders out there...

this is actually a VERY good model. Nice texturing! Great shading pick for the wheels. Great renders too! The wheels are modeled nice and clean. Sweet job! -
all I had was a few pics to look at. No rotos...just references. I also drew out side, front, and top drawings on grid paper to get a basic idea of the layout..but other than that...freehand

This is probably my best work so far... I have 5 views total that I have rendered out. holy crud! I didn't add a floor or connectors to the brushes! I won't get marked off for that on my project...hehe. I'll still fix it
-
almost done with modeling... I usually am VERY open for critiques, but only suggest things that would be very easy to change (shifting some shapes, but not actually moving whole parts around, changing the size of something, etc.) The reason I want filtered critiques is because I'm on a really tight schedule right now and if I tweak anything up very much more, I won't get texturing done.
-
you all will call me an amateur if I tell you the patch count... the main reason for the high patches is the spikes and the brushes: 10,433...hahaha after I'm done with this..I'm deleting it off right away
-
Now I'm working in the procrastination station...it's due tomorrow and this is how far I am: (I still have to texture it, too!)
-
that's great! The animation is very good! How did you do the egg splatter effect? did you just have a model of the splatter than place it inside the egg, and expand it at the right time? Also, how did you get that semi-clay render? It looks very good
