  1. gonzo, the dents are from 5 pt. patches. they are not intentional. However, I've tried out porcelain on the model and it elimantes the creasing, so it's all fine. Just didn't wanna take the time to apply it for a quick screen shot. I'm still thinking about adding more detail to the arms, as there isn't much on the rest of the body...maybe I'll add a panel or something to the forearm just to give it a bit more detail. As you know, my models are mainly for animation practice, but also a bit of bling. That's why I don't put much detail into must of my models (once in awhile though, I get really detailed). I've been really busy with school and stuff, so I haven't had a chance to work on the model. Maybe in a few minutes I'll just do a little something and post it up. bye
  2. when I read the requirement that you had to have a lot of time on your hands...I bailed on the idea. I got high school and stuff.
  3. feedback anybody?
  4. more updates..I'm really liking where this is going.....
  5. I was already planning to have the neck BE a shock, so I think I want something that's actually on the head. Maybe something in that hole at the top of his head. I don't know what, though
  6. I was already planning a ball in that socket! You read my mind. However, I want fingers this time. I already have a good picture of what they're gonna look like. I'm just wondering what the actual style of the arm will be. I'm also thinking of adding something else to the head to take away from the "a lot of space on that thing" feeling
  7. haha heck no I'm not. You're talking about Star Trek! lol no..I really know..it's Star Wars, silly! well made some more progress. I think I'm giving it the right look in similarity with the other bot. The eye and brow make the two look the same. I'm still trying to figure out the arm design
  8. alright...oh no..the silent friend is going to be the bot I've had for a long time. What movie are you talking about???
  9. thanks! I was thinking that the scope bot might by this guy's "little buddy" or something. Because this guy will be able to talk and will have arms and stuff. His buddy will be one of those silent ones who isn't able to talk (like in all cute relationships)
  10. well guys...I've decided to add another character to the scope bot crew (that one robot who right now is frozen in front of the plank it just rolled over) This time, I'm actually using modeling techniques (making holes, 5 pt. patches, Porcelain, spline continuity, hooks, etc.) Check it out so far! I'm still trying to figure out with the style of the legs, arms and head will be. I want them to be somewhat related to the look of the scope bot. here it is so far
  11. no no no man dont be afaraid to suggest. I'll take your suggestion about the camera work, but for now I'm just going to make the action and then choreograph it later
  12. hmmm...I want him to be a high-tech bot, but looking like so little. that's why I wanted to have him "turn aoround" like that
  13. thanks! I'll experiment with balance issues..I might do another whole set of tests just for character development, and take a break from going straight to animating...I'll be back with some balance tests
  14. ok..update...I figured out a new way that he could look back..check it out Bot_exploresplank.zip
  15. I'm sure there's a better way. Having to add keyframes to solve orientation problems, most of the time, means there's another solution. Maybe it has something to do with gimble lock.
  16. ------------ Stuart, some great ideas man! I'll keep those in mind. ------------ nimble, I get what you're saying. I wanted him to lean forward, though, so he I could show that he was going as fast as he could. It's kinda like when you lean forward on a bike when you want to go fast. Maybe I should just have him in that position for a few seconds then go right back to the neutral position. I'm still thinkin' about the tire moving back and forth. I dont' know if I should do that. That'll make the guy look old and unconfident. This wheel is like his leg. He's been growing up with it under him all his life. He's already achieved the feat of keeping the wheel under control. I will, however, move the body back when he moves forward. ------- Adios
  17. THAT'S WHAT I NEED TO USE...THE STINKIN' SHOCKS ON THE NECK. thanks Dhar, I"ll be back tomorrow maybe post up an update
  18. well this isn't much for a start but at least it is a start...I'm still tweakin' up the end part when he stops after rollin' across the thing. I think what's gonna happen next is he's gonna go back around and do it again except the plank won't move when he goes up... I won't say any more about the ending botexploresplank1.mov
  19. do you got any joints in that neck? I suggest having some then you'll feel much more flexibility in animating the guy.
  20. hey guys haven't been here for awhile...well as you know I like making simple models for practicing animation with. Check out this quadreped model. in the midst of rigging still
  21. I think you should add a hat....that'd make her really look like THE Christmas spirit! Christmas isn't about getting...IT'S ABOUT HER
  22. enter me in again?
  23. count me in rod! I'm broke and I need that updgrade!
  24. Well I'm sick so I can't go to school today and tomorrow...so I decided to just whip up a little sidestep animation. I wanted to focus on overlapping (especially with the spine/waist) in this sidestep.mov
  25. hmmm... this needs some work. There's no weight or correct timing in here.
