  1. This is perfect, Vern. It's really just what I was looking for. I appreciate the generosity! 2 Bonus Points for you.
  2. I'm working on a quick project, and I could use an electric guitar. I've found a very high quality model for sale, however I don't need that kind of detail. If anyone has a link to a free (or cheap) guitar model, that would be awesome.
  3. I recently finished another commercial using Animation Master. It was a quick job, made easy with my favorite software. Switch.wmv Edit - here's a Quicktime for folks that are having problems:Switch.mov
  4. Good idea - I'll give that a try. Thanks Ken!!
  5. I have a model I built in version 13, and I would very much like to import it into a Choreography in version 12 of A:M. Although the ideal solution would be to use version 13 of the software, but this may not be possible. Is there any way to import a newer model into an older version of the software? Thanks.
  6. PeterS, thank you for that tip - right clicking inside the bounding box of the selected path is the trick I needed. I appreciate your helpfulness.
  7. I'd like to use the sweeper plug-in, and I can't seem to find it. From what I've read, it should be in version 13. I'm using 13s. When I right click - Plug-Ins - Wizards - all I have is "Terrain, Grid, Font, AI and Extruder". So, if anyone can help me find the plug-in, that would be super. EDIT: I've discovered that sweeper.hxt is in my hxt folder - so I HAVE it - I just can't get it to show up from within A:M.
  8. You guessed it - an animated decal for the mouth. I've been a fan of this approach ever since I saw my first VeggieTales show. Before I get animating, I've got lots of rigging and smart skinning left to do. Thanks for all the positive comments!
  9. I've done alot of mechanical modelling & animation, however this is my first real character. He's a power plant worker to be used in a tour video. The body, hands, and hair are from various characters on the "Extras CD", although each have been modified slightly.
  10. Fantastic - I'm very excited to read what you did. Natually, feel free to take your time - I know you have other things to do. I'll just sit here, clicking "refresh" for the next few days until it's ready.
  11. Okay - now this is just the best ever. Your characters are simply off the hook. Love 'em. And now, you throw in the best grass I've ever seen? This is too much. I've posted often about using hair to make grass - with limited success. I would LOVE to get more details about your lawn there (settings used, number of emitters, etc). I'd even love to know the scale you used (height of grass, grid settings). Anyway, what I'm saying is that this is really great. I'm blown away. I've worked for awhile to get this type of result, and so I really appreciate what you've done here. Any information you can post will be most appreciated.
  12. Yeah, I used that method (and tutorial) about 2 years ago. Results were less than stellar. I think the new hair is way better. I'd love to see a new tutorial using modern tools - and perhaps a variety of methods (such as Martin's 3 material grass mentioned above).
  13. Every year, I have to update a commercial for a golf tournament. I couldn't find my project from last year so I started from scratch. I spent most of my time on the grass/hair. Crits are welcome.
  14. I was planning on selling my Setup Machine 2 if you guys or anyone else is interested. I'd take $50 or best offer for it. Anyone can PM me if interested.
  15. Lens flares will show up in an HD Digital Top-of-the-Line George Lucas camera produced yesterday. I just shot some DV video last month in which I have lens flares. The idea that they're "out" is amusing at best. That's like saying rack-focus shots are out. It's like saying that jib shots are out. It's an addition to make a shot more interesting - a little color to spice up the shot. If adding color to a mostly black and white image ever goes out, I'll highly question the people who decide what is "out". Don't knock the lens flare, man. Now the star-wipe.... that's a different story. They're out.
  16. I've just nearly finished a still for the image contest, and after viewing your wallpaper, I realize how much I truly suck. The awesomeness of your image is stupifying. Apparently knowing how to use those acronym-type things you mentioned is quite worthwhile.
  17. In case you haven't seen it, Zach has a video podcast which he updates regularly with his work: http://www.hash.com/users/zachbg/vodcast.html His stuff is always great, but this week's Olympic-themed video is particularly hilarious. Zach probably has the most consistently laugh-out-loud animations, and I can't imagine why you wouldn't subscribe to this excellent podcast. Go do it now!!
  18. There's no patch for this. The CD itself can be removed once the program starts - however the copy protection itself can't be removed. It's not like Photoshop, After Effects, or Sony Vegas - rather think of the protection like a video game. You need the Doom 3 CD any time you play the game. Don't expect it to change any time soon. On a ponderous note, I wonder myself whether or not this protection actually causes MORE people to use bootleg software just to eliminate the hassle - even if you own the a valid license. No way to know I guess.
  19. I like free stuff!! I'm a relatively new user too (3 years is new since the universe is billions of years old).
  20. My thougts: 1. walk cycles need work 2. the music is very 1981 3. the title - blatant rip-off of Narnia. Big turn off. Despite these points, your project IS ambitious - and that's always a good thing!
  21. You should submit "Cell Phone"!! That one was hilarious. I think that it would be accepted by many animation festivals.
  22. Heheh. Only at work. At home I use the vastly superior Nvidia cards. They actually have driver support.
  23. If "cromulent" isn't in your dictionary, you need to use an enbiggened dictionary.
  24. Here's the inner workings of a combined cycle power plant. The final animation will fly around the parts. I just added the grid, which I think is much better than the flat background I tried first.
