  1. Here is the Artoxian Drop-ship that will carry the Walkers in. Only took a couple days to model. I didn't want to spend too much time on something that will only make a brief appearance.
  2. More news on this project... I now have my Apple G5 dual processor horse up and running, so it is time to buckle down on the project. I am going to work onn a few random scenes and try to come up with a "Teaser" trailer. I have a couple ideas for it, already. After more work is done a more "theatrical" trailer will be posted. Other than various animation tests (with a green Background) I will probably keep the animation updates to a minimum so too much is not given away. I will post some stills from time to time. The story has gone through a major revision, and I am aiming for a 25 to 30 minute film. Still a short, but a long short! Here are my lofty goals to date and how I will accomplish them: 1. 25 - 30 minute film........ Only 4 or 5 speaking parts so there are fewer people involved. Low detail on the models, less procedurals and more image maps so render time is down. 2. Grand music score....... Garritan's Personal Orchestra and Finale notation. (This will be fun) 3. Have it done by Fall........ Model and animate while awake, render while I sleep. More info to come soon. I have to model a couple things tonight including the dropship for those Artoxian Walkers and some props for the Colony.
  3. I have been modeling today and came up with one of the badguys (Artoxians) machines. It is a walking robot looking thing. Here is a render and a short, dark, animation. Artoxian Walkers Approaching the Colony
  4. Yes, fabulous! What surface are you planning on for his skin? You might consider just plain ole' white. Keep it up!
  5. Here is an animation test! This is Flin using his melee combat skills against an Artoxian. The movie is only 15fps for bandwidth purposes, but rendered at 24 fps so it will look okay on a TV. I am starting to create reusable actions and these are the first two. Flin Taking on some Artoxians (8 sec. Quicktime Mp4 codec 220K)
  6. I see what you mean about the dull appearance... I am trying to get the feeling of an alien atmosphere and I'm not sure if the blue light wouldn't make it look wrong. I will try it when I get home anyhow.
  7. I have a thought... if you are just wanting an atmospheric feel, not an actual fog, you could set your sky background to "Ignore Fog" and then blend the color and falloff so it looks ok. This is the kind of look I have in the image in this post of a project i am working on: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...indpost&p=85248
  8. Yeah, the water thing is weird. Looks much better, though! I believe that some fog should be in any scene (where there is atmosphere) because that is the way of the world. Even indoors, the air is not perfectly clear. The trick is how much fog to apply and what color to make it. Keep up the good work and if you find a solutio to the water, do tell.
  9. And now.... I thought I would see how Gnosh and Glix (the robot) look with the Colony in the background. Working on the look I want for this production.
  10. Looking good! What are your system specs?
  11. Here is a cheesy lens flare shot. I have done a little texture work and added some landscaping.
  12. Here is an update after some time off. This is the colony walls with a couple watch towers. I will be adding some interior buildings soon and texturing the towers.
  13. I am also interested in the tileable decals you discussed. How exactly is this done and what is the PWS? Very nice model, but I think her skin is just a tad too shiny.
  14. Much better! Although... did you use multi-pass when you rendered? If you didn't, you should because the blur looks very real.
  15. If he can't dodge a ball, I guess he can't dodge a wrench either! Excellent! (Motion Blur) <- Subliminal message
  16. Yes, and these Martian ships are bigger too. I had to scale them up or the Enterprise would have made them look silly.
  17. I bet I know who the Trek fans will pick. But, I'll tell ya... I think these guys pack a LOT of wallop for their size!
  18. Thanks everyone! @nyahkitty: Yes, I composed all of the music. If you want to do an animation to my music, feel free. Just make sure I'm credited. Check out my website to hear more.
  19. Chris: Yeah, it is a bit dark. I will soon render some shots of the entire ship in a well lit area so everyone can see all of it. Here is the animation of the probe emerging from the hull. The whole thing is on a Pose slider so I can easily have it come out in any scene. Martian War Machine Probe is Revealed! (Quicktime - Mp4 Codec - 500 KB)
  20. COMING SOON!! I have finished the probe... ...I just didn't have time this morning to upload the renders before work. The renders will be up this afternoon. Some stills and[/] animations.
  21. Yeah right!!! If only as his composer! (C'mon John Williams... haven't you worked enough?)
  22. That may have played a part in AMC showing the movie that Sunday afternoon. I really think that these models from a lot of the old (good) sci-fi movies had a sense of style. Especially this one. Thanks for everyone's comments.
