  1. OK I figured out how to control it from within a chor. Now how do I get the glow to be bigger? When It glows now, it's barely visible. Thanks, d
  2. I'm trying to set up a mast light with 3 different colored lights. I want to be able to turn the glow on for the desired color, red, amber and green. Not all at once. Any thoughts? Attached is an image. P.S. Mast lights are used in industrial equipment to indicate status. Red means fault. Amber means alert. Green means................ Everythings OK (you thought I was going to say go, didn't you). Thanks in advance for your help d
  3. No audio either. Great clip however!!! Very cool. d
  4. Here's a WIP I have of an Industrial Fork Lift. The steering wheel turns the rear wheels, the mast tilts and the forks go up & down. I've got a LOT of work to do massaging the body to get the realism where I'd like it to be. Decaling would help a ton here as well. Technically the mast is telescoping (second and 3rd sections that extend as the forks move beyond the vertical limit of the lower mast section.... whew), but I haven't added those portions yet. I would also like to make the forks spread apart and come together (Real fork lifts have a shift function, to move the forks in tandem, left or right). If anyone is interested I can post the model (sharing is caring). P.S. my notes aren't intended to insult your intelligence, they're just for the industrially uninformed. d
  5. Thanks, I'll check it out. I'm using keylights and Rim lights. There is a setting for width softness but not for shadow type. Thanks, d
  6. Rodney, They only appear when the robot in the center of the view moves. It's an articulated robot so each joint is capable of moving independantly. Th lines seem to radiate back to the screen section in the top right horizontal postion, regardless of the direction of robot. I'll try rendering the series of frames without the "render as lines" on and see if it goes away. It may take me a while to try that as I need to travel for a couple of days. thanks d
  7. Help, When I rendered this scene, there are weird elliptical lines that show up ONLY when a particular model moves. I'm using lines in the guarding section to simulate wire mesh (mesh is commonly used in these types of industrial installations. The lines are then "rendered as lines". I didn't think it was an issue till I ran the presentation through the projector. They stick out like a sore thumb. Any help would be appreciated. d
  8. Nice! I remember all those old Dr. Who episodes........ d
  9. Attached is one reason why I don't care to use primitives as supplied. When you scale them into shapes they get distorted. I think ypoissant's way is better because I can size it correctly then create the shape. d
  10. Heyyyyyy, What do you mean my work is primitive????? Oh, you said it was mostly primitives, my bad. Sorry to sound so paranoid but... if everyone was after you, you would be paranoid too..... VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: The above was merely my self deprecative sense of humor. If I was really offended I would say some thing like..............never mind... I'll check out the tutorial, thanks. d
  11. Gene, That's just reflectivity, those legs are as square as an Old North Georgian Decaling would help a lot as well. Thanks for the suggestions. d
  12. John, I've got to try that! Excellent suggestion. d
  13. Zach, Excellent work. My son has a black one just like it. d
  14. Ken, I guess my point is I know it could be improved upon. I think I've tried the beveler before, and had problems with complex shapes, but that was in v10. Has anyone else tried it under v 11 with good results? Thanks for the feedback !! d
  15. Wow Frankenshteen, I haven't heard that one since Young Frankenstein. LOL d
  16. I find faceting to take a lot of extra time. Attached is an image of one scene that the customer thinks, looks great. Of course I know it could be a ton better if I had faceted everything. Isn't there an add on to AM that facets shapes for you? What do ya'll think? d
  17. Took a while to see them, but the resemblance is there. d
  18. It wouldn't play for me either. d
  19. Excellent Detail! What type of class are you taking? d
  20. Chris, I followed the link. There's some bizzar message about stealing an image? What's up with that? d
  21. To quote my southern Brothers.... DANG. There is clearly a sense that this is is a good (OK great) idea. Maybe I need to take my blinders off. I served an apprenticeship in an unrelated field, and was taken advantage of and treated like the journeyman's b*&^h. Compensate for bad experiences............ working............. done. I feel better now. Let's go. d
  22. I think there is a ton of mentoring that goes on from this forum. The people here have helped me in many ways. The right thing to do is to pass that on to others starting out. What's really cool is being a bystander and watching threads where the "masters" help each other out. Let's face it, it all comes down to treating people the way you want to be treated. Apprenticeships take a lot of time and commitment, things that can be in short supply. I like the forum the way it is. It (apprenticeship) is a neat idea, but in reality, it would be very difficult to put it into place. d
  23. Don't remember seeing a tin bottle, but it still looks good. d
  24. John, You're right I should donate one of them. Thanks for the compliment on the avatar, it's made from the model I created of a FANUC R-2000iA/165F. Your avatar rocks!!! (what does avatar stand for anyway?). d
  25. John, I've modeled a few robotic arms (real world industrial types) as I have a lot of experience in the automation field. 2 are articulated arms and one is a Scara style. Interested? d
