  1. I dont know - this is a demo piece, the real one would have thickness (double walls). I don't know if the cookie cut would work for the wall depth.....
  2. Does someone have a simpler solution than this:
  3. I made a disc that works (with Porcelain added only - otherwise bias shows). Next is to eliminate the no essential geometry amd see if the curvature is maintained......
  4. I dunno, there were no credits on the web pages for who put the presentations together. At the time it was active - all the "TWO" stuff was being routed through it....so it was probably HASH.
  5. I salvaged what I could - some stuff had no pictures or no longer existed. One or two of the ones I salvaged have a missing picture or 2. 6. Friggin Found it. here is one of them: http://replay.waybackmachine.org/200710111...lished/HomePage Ambient_Occlusion_Rendering_hash_Wiki.doc
  7. Does anybody know the old URL? This is soooooo frustrating.
  8. Way to kill the buzz........
  9. To paraphrase George - Slap a Soldier - Patton: " David you magnificent bastard, I bought your BOOK!" Happy birthday my good felow. Cheers,
  10. Watcha Win? Watcha Win? Share the glory - hurrah & huzzah!!!!!
  11. Isn't there an auto-save plugin that saves every X minutes you tell it to? I could swear I have that in Ver 13. Of course, AM closing and not keeping saves is much better than the ver 11 problem I had this morning where it closed AND deleted my model file.......Sigh. Good thing I have a back-up at home. Can't wait until my new HASH CD arrives....
  12. I'm only adding a reply because I subscribed to this thread - but it isn't on my list. These guys have it nailed so I want to always follow this dialog.
  13. Is anybody good at writing a short story that everyone could have a chance to work on to make a 15 minute movie? Kinda "TWO" scaled down. Just curious....
  14. I just did this Tutorial - although I have done quite a few eyes before. It all looked great and easy to follow UNTIL we got to the Pose Slider. It took me 7 attempts to get it right - rewinding and pausing - rewinding - pausing... otherwise great tutorial.
  15. Johnny B - is that a displacement, Bump or Normal map on those nipples? Not that theyre obvious, you can barely see those nipples and I'm trying. (Apolgies to Scrooged).
  16. Well, I got my boots modelled. For any scene they wouldn't be apparent I will delete most of the bottom patches in the Boot Tread. Now, To Unwrap and do my maps......I am sooo rusty at that part.
  17. Is there a Guru out there who can explain the benefits of Normal Maps VS Bump Maps? Dammit Jim - I'm a Doctor not a Programmer!
  18. At this time I'm stuck with the Yeti CD.....If I have some money luck I will upgrade. I'm thinking that If I'm rendering a bunch of soldiers, walking through a misty abandoned city for a full body shot (Long Shot), nobody would see shoelace shadows. If I need a close up of their feet - I would model the whole shebange for detail. I was thinking of doing a high res and low res version of each character so I can render the long shots first while I set up and animate medium and close ups.
  19. When I do my next project - I want to minimize the render time IF I can keep the quality. Here is some stuff from TurboSquid as examples of what I'm thinking. They are "other' software format but the renders do look good:
  20. When Rendering: 1. Bump Maps are faster than additional geometry (think shoelaces)? 2. Displacement Maps are faster than additional geometry? 3. Smart Skin wrinkles in cloth render faster than "Cloth Simulation"? "Right", "wrong" or "what are you smoking"? Cheers!
