  1. The face modeling CD was intended to explain why splines were placed the way they were for the purposes of animation, not just making a decent looking modeled face.

And this is one of the things that I loved about your CD. It not only covers the how but also the why. I have gone through too many tuts that tell you "do this, now do this" but leave me asking why I just did what I did and to what end.

As stated, I love your CD it is just interesting to see the interpretation of others on the same subject.

Bundles. Most stores have a buy a bundle of something, at one time get a bonus of something else; however, if you buy over time, the only thing that might help is trying to see if Steve will sell you a bundle minus the Cd's you already have... Again I'm not sure about this, thus "Contact Steve" (steve@anzovin.com)
And I love the bundle concept, it's just the matter of having to shell out $X all at once. My secret wish would be that it would be like Subway. After you buy 10 subs the 11th one's free. I will email Steve to see what options are available to me.

Well I'll say this.. there are plans for more videos and some remakes of older videos in the future. I don't wish to start rumors as to wich CD's these will be yet as we'll assess the demand a bit closer to production time; however, I know that there has been discussion of potentially remaking the NLA and Face Rigging CD's. It should be noted that the techniques in the existing CD's will still work, but the new CD's would cover other potential techniques.

I very much look forward to future news on this. :D Also, if you could think about throwing Raf's original Character Rigging video in the mix too that would be awesome.

Thanx Bill for being so responsive.

  2. Ken:

    A different approach....

You could set up additional bones which originate from the same place your #1 bone does and fanning out to the reaming CPs. You then set up orient like constraints to your #1 bone with whatever percentages you like. (Make sure you have compensate mode on when you set them up though)

    Pixmite

Man... I was gonna say that.

  3. I actually ordered the Face bundle a couple of weeks ago and have been going through them and am finding them very helpful. It is interesting to me to see how different people address the same subject.

When I look at Bill's modeling techniques vs. Colin Freeman's vs. David Rogers' I can see several similarities and several differences. Bottom line is that there is no one way to do something. So I'm taking a few elements from each and combining them to my own style which seems to be working so far.

Back to the topic at hand.

I would still like to get several more CDs (materials, secrets 2003 & Non-linear) but between those and trying to update to V11 I'm going broke and it seems like no one wants to part with their used videos!!!

Maybe it was just wishful thinking that Anzovin would have a buy 4 get one free deal :D.

And while I have your attention, Bill are there any plans to update some of the older videos to the newer software versions? In particular Non-linear & face rigging.

  4. Very nice. Personally, I wish the sky was lighter shade of blue so that it would look more like daylight and also that the lens flare was toned down a bit. Too much makes it look a bit fakey, like you're trying to make it more realistic. In real photography you would rarely have that effect be that dramatic.

Also, I really don't get a sense of depth in the picture. It looks like the mountains are maybe 20' away.

Is that a little Julie Andrews I see running across the mountains?

  5. Hummm....there must have been a sale on heart work last week...I had 4 blockages and 3 stints (and still not sure thats the correct spelling..LOL) put in.

I'll take the stints over major surgery any time......get well soon..and follow doctors orders.....

    Mike Cossey

This has been a message from the American Heart Association who encourages everyone to get off yo butt, exercise and eat right.

  6. I have seen a few of times that there has been a video out there that Raf did on character rigging but I can't find it available on his site.

Does anyone know where and if this is out there somewhere or even an article based on it would be helpful.

I know I could just buy TSM and be done with it but I like to understand how things works instead of jst doing it.

    thanx

  7. As an audio engineer by trade I can tell you that your mic is only one link in the chain.

If you are going to be recording via your soundcard then you don't need a $2000 Neumann. The opposite's true too, if you are going into a SSL board a SM57 won't suit your needs either.

Before anyone can give a qualified answer we need to know, what is your signal chain going to be?

Another thing you need to consider is whether the investment is worth the return right now. You can go out and drop $300 on a very good mic but are you going to get $300 worth of use out of it? If you are going to use it to record 15 minutes of dialog then you may consider just renting a recording studio.

I'm not sure where you're from but you may be able to find studios in your area that would be able to work with you on times and rates. I know that here in Nashville I can find many top studios that charge $35 an hour or $350 a day. The nice thing too is that you don't have to worry about maintenance or yoru gear getting outdated or having to learn how to get a decent vocal sound (trust me, it's not as easy as you think).
