Is there a way to do one render that includes different camera angles or do I have to do individual renders for each camera?
For one camera but having the angle change. Put a keyframe for the camera an the frame just before you want it to switgh and one on the next frame.
Because there are no transitional frames the view will appear to change instantly.

If you'll give me a list of your students I'd be glad to get their certificates out!
Hey! I did it some time ago. Can I get a certificate too?

Has done a comparison for all the diffrent types of video compression that are available to see size vs. quality?
Looking at some of the entrants for the latest animation competition got me wondering how some got such a good quality and a small size.

OK I know that this has been done, oh, about a billion and a half times but it's still a good way to experiment with timing and gravity.
It's still got some tweeking to do but not a bad start.
Thoughts?

How long is the voting open for anyway?

I am working on mastering the tutorials, and in the manual it states that sound files must be in the .wav format. Can anyone suggest a program that will allow me to save such a file. My computer is a DELL with a CD-RW that also reads music cd's.
Any reply would be appreciated.
Save it from what? Are you wanting to record your own sounds? Rip them off a CD?
If you are just wanting to pul sounds off a CD I would suggset CDex or iTunes and for editing and conversion I would use Goldwave.

Wow, there are some really good entries this time!
BTW, if you actually download #6 vs. trying to stream it, it works fine.
-
hey, are we all supposed to watch every one of the animations before voting?
Considering that you have to vote for 4 entries and in fairness to all the people who worked on these, YES!
-
I'm not sure what's going on but I'm having a heck of a time downloading these. Maybe it's just the traffic to the Hash server. I'll try again tomorrow.
Are these on the mirror site so we can DL them from there too since we know that the mirror is much faster?

Wow, I think that this is the most entries that I have seen in a while!!
It figures it would happen the time I try to throw my hat into the ring.

You already are.

Are you planning on stuffing the ballot box by having all you friends sign up so they can vote for you?!?
-
Actually the dealine was the 31st so we may see something tomorrow.

Oh - if you're rendering to an animation format (avi, QuickTime) instead of sequential frames... don't. Always render to images and compile into a movie later.
Why is that?

Ken, if you are doing A:M classics, it might be fun to also post "Gecko", which I think was also Allan, in light of the popularity of the Geico ads.

It's already there. It's called newt.mov

then rescale in PS.
Unfortuately this is not an option since it's an ani and not a still image.
I'll try your other suggestions though.

There is a tutorial on just this thing.... my memory says Anzovin.
I think it was on a SIGGRAPH videotape.
Can anyone confirm?
Anzovin... What don't those guys know?!?

What's the trick to pulling off good looking soft shadows in 10.5r?
I did a render where the shadow casting light has 3 ray casts and did a 4x4 multi-pass render but the shadows look dithered and not very smooth. See Example
What do I need to do different to make these better.

I had the same problem but I emailed Steve and he sent me instructions to upload it directly to their FTP site and to just email him when it was up there.

It is possable to launch multiple instances of A:M that would be stable.
I would just like to take advantaqge of the "Hyper-Threading Technology" and work on one thing while something else is rendering.

It kind of looks like one of those lizard guys from the original Star Trek series.

You may have to unsubscribe then re-subscruibe with your new address.

Ditto on the zipper joke. It took me a minute to get it too. Very good though even though I thought the last pose was a bit suggestive (YIKES!!!)
What program did you assemble the animatic in?

Thanx, I agree that I need to play with the easing at the pinacle a bit more.
One thing that I added to give it a little more "real" feeling was that if you look at the middle balls there's a little sway to them when they are struck.
Thanx for everyones input. I'll post more as I update it.
