Paul Forwood Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 I was messing about with my rigging a couple of weeks ago and ended up getting sidetracked with this thing. I'm posting this early test for a laugh. Rip it to shreds at will. I know about the fingers not actually looking like they are doing thier job. Looks more like shrimp legs. It has evolved a bit since this and has had a little adventure but needs more work before rendering. I have a few ideas where he would be quite handy Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted November 18, 2004 Hash Fellow Posted November 18, 2004 That's a neat piece. As far as the walking motion of the fingers, true, it may not be anatomically accurate, but if this were one shot in a movie (not a clip that we can review a dozen times) you might get away with it. I think you've succeeded in giving the impression that they were doing their job, because you have the other hand doing it's thing and luring our attention away. If it were a longer scene you'd probably have to address the issue of balance: how does it keep from tipping over when one hand is in the air? This would really freak people out if it showed up at the Animation Showdown. Quote
starwarsguy Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 Robcat's right, lol. You could get away with it, but after watching it a few times, it's really funny! Nice work all the same. Quote
Paul Forwood Posted November 19, 2004 Author Posted November 19, 2004 Thank you, guys. More later ... Quote
gazzamataz Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 Well, Paul you are the quite one aren't you. Sitting there through the BAM meeting not saying much and then you come up with POW! This interesting peice - like it. It obviously needs work, getting the balance right and those 'orrid creases in the hands (use porcelain material), but if you work at it I think you will have a very nice peice of animation Quote
Paul Forwood Posted November 19, 2004 Author Posted November 19, 2004 Thanks, Gazza. Maybe by the time we next get together I'll have something for 'Show and Tell'. This model has been improved slightly since I rendered this clip but I still need to add a couple of splines, tweek the rig and try a skin texture. I am just starting to get a feel for A:M rigging but still have much to learn. I have to admit that there are many, many features in A:M that I have never even tried. Porceline is one of them. I was waiting until the 5 point patch thingy had been resolved and it seems that time may have arrived so, yes, I should use it. Quote
