Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 2, 2018 Hash Fellow Share Posted December 2, 2018 This test model has several groups, each with a different color, and one "all" group, containing a gradient material, that overrides the color groups to make a gradient from black to white. GradTest01.prj Is there a way to key off the influence of the "all" group on a certain frame to let the native colors of the other groups show through? Admin Rodney Posted December 3, 2018 Admin Share Posted December 3, 2018 Perhaps some form of expression? ..|..|..|GroupAll|Shortcut to graydient|Gradient|Attribute.Surface.Diffuse Color.Red
Admin Rodney Posted December 3, 2018 Admin Share Posted December 3, 2018 Here's something of a proof of concept with the Red channel of a material in one model driving the red channel of a Group in another mode. Not quite what you are after but might hint an a solution. MaterialDrivenGroupColor.prj
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 3, 2018 Author Hash Fellow Share Posted December 3, 2018 Can you tell me a bit more about what is happening?
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 3, 2018 Author Hash Fellow Share Posted December 3, 2018 i guess there was a translation problem. I wasn't trying to key off a material, I'm trying to key OFF a material.
Wildsided
If you were pressed for time you could just put a copy of the model slightly in front of the first and fade the copy out. gradual_gradient.avi
Admin Rodney Posted December 4, 2018 Admin Share Posted December 4, 2018 hmmm..... You could adjust the Displacement percentage from 0 to 1. 0 will present the color(s) of the material 1 will decactivate the color(s) by activating the displacement but so minimal that it cannot be noticed. Gah! Disregard. It doesn't allow the Groups to show through. You may be experiencing why I tend to prefer Patch Images over materials and decals. Wildsided
Yeah, sorry. By copy I meant a 2nd model.
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 4, 2018 Author Hash Fellow Share Posted December 4, 2018 That would work for many uses but in this case i'm trying to find a way to keep it all on one mesh. thanks none-the-less!
itsjustme
This might work...although I made the transition too fast and sloppy. Test_12_03_2018.mp4 GradTest02.prj
itsjustme
I'll bump this in case it was missed.
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 5, 2018 Author Hash Fellow Share Posted December 5, 2018 That is a clever solution, David. Thank you! Thank you, Dan and Rodney for your contributions also!
