johnl3d Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 working on an over head shot where lightning flashes across and down thought I's try using render as lines this is the first draft of that idea looking for suggestions the scene will also have storms clouds and rain lightning.mov Quote
lazz Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 Looks cool! though, you might want the lightning to happen a bit faster and maybe a bit more jagged. I look forward to your final scene! Robert Quote
JohnArtbox Posted March 29, 2004 Posted March 29, 2004 Hi two things make the effect of lightning. One it occurs virtually instantaneously - it's there and then it's not, it doesn't grow down, and the biggest visual cue is the lighting flash that accompanies it, creating a stark bright illumination of the clouds and ground, also you probably want to add glow. johnl3d Posted April 1, 2004 Author Posted April 1, 2004 Well I played with the lightning and added some "lights" to it I set up a simple mocked city under the bolt and here is what I got Its not done but better lightninga.mov Quote
Zaryin Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 I think that the lightning, towards it end, should be slimmer. Other than that, it's looking good to me. Quote
HeadlessBill Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 If you watch video clips of lightning, you'll notice that lightning actually doesn't move much, if at all. http://www.lightningwizard.com/ Actually, that web site has some pretty interesting clips of lightning flashes. I'd suggest downloading some and studing them frame by frame. It might help in creating something a little more realistic. * Edit: Ooops. The webpage doesn't seem to like me linking directly to one of it's files. Changed the link to the actual web page itself. Quote
