fae_alba Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 So I'm trying to build a palm tree....have it nearly where I want it, but am having an issue with the decal for the trunk. After applying it it shows fine in the model window and the chor like so but when I render it looks like this.. Nothing I do will get the decal to repeat properly for the entire length of the trunk. Any ideas?? Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted April 1, 2012 Hash Fellow Posted April 1, 2012 Are those palm branches decals also? Quote
johnl3d Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 decal is what type of file ? jpg tga .... one decal for whole trunk ? Quote
fae_alba Posted April 1, 2012 Author Posted April 1, 2012 Are those palm branches decals also? nope...but I think I need to rework them since they don't have any thickness to them... Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted April 1, 2012 Hash Fellow Posted April 1, 2012 Crazy idea that makes no sense... ...render a frame in Shaded mode and make sure "show decals" is on, then render a frame in "Final" and see if the decals come back. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted April 1, 2012 Hash Fellow Posted April 1, 2012 Also... are those decals applied with a plugin like "bitmap Plus"? Make sure "Plugin Shaders" is ON. Quote
fae_alba Posted April 1, 2012 Author Posted April 1, 2012 Also... are those decals applied with a plugin like "bitmap Plus"? Make sure "Plugin Shaders" is ON. the decal was simply applied..no plugins..but I'm wondering if perhaps a material would be better suited? Is there a quick and "easy" way to use an image as a material, and if so how. I've gone thru the forum and found no tuts, and materials are so far still a black art for me. Quote

BitMapPlus or ProjectionMap. One is from Hash, one is from Marcel Brickman -> KCI-group. See you *Fuchur* Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted April 1, 2012 Hash Fellow Posted April 1, 2012 If your image can tile successfully, you can select the mesh>>Add Image and a copy will be applied to each patch. If the image is not oriented correctly on any patch you can select the patch(es)>>Rotate Images until they are oriented correctly. Quote

Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted April 1, 2012 Hash Fellow Posted April 1, 2012 Ah sweet success! That's what I needed Robert. Cool! I have no idea why the regular decal didn't work. I would love to go sit on that beach. Quote
