Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted September 25, 2011 Hash Fellow Share Posted September 25, 2011 I see the word "triangles" on their page. <_> Can the result be imported as a "prop" in A:M?
jakerupert
I guess, it`s main use would be to use it in a gameengine like unity...
Fuchur
Since we are talking about builidings here, it could be used as a prop, so in many cases, there is no need to get it to quad-polygones / import it as model into A:M. See you *Fuchur*
Admin Rodney Posted September 25, 2011 Admin Share Posted September 25, 2011 My primary concern would be that they say it exports (only?) to FBX and Collada. I don't see any Import capability and if it has such a thing might be an effective means to get A:M models into some other programs. But it also says: The possibilities are endless – Wow! That is a lot of possibilities. If you've got 29 bucks to spare you might be able to build some serious cities. You might also be able to better understand how to reproduce a similar workflow in A:M. And (if you expect to need a lot of cities to be built) that alone could justify the expenditure. As far as the campaign itself. It's almost like Kickstarter but for a growing number of 'show us the money first' CG programs. Not necessarily a bad thing. Especially if you can easily absorb the loss of $29 plus whatever personal data they are using for research. My current Assessment: Well worth $29 if you are interest in the value of research. If not specifically interested in building cities I'd pass on it though. What I'll probably do: Pass on it because I need to reserve my pennies for other purchases. If I was these guys I would learn from previous iterations of this marketing scheme and send out a few email *after* the purchase. In this way they might turn all those nibbles into bigger bites in the long term. The PM marketing from before appears to have mostly just coveted the cashflow. What seems to be the most underhanded about these schemes is that they (business-wisely which maximizes their profit) do not release the dollar amount of their target goal. What it is... only they know. My guess is that short of catastrophically low sales these schemes will ALWAYS meet their goal. Primary rationale for believing this to be the case? It costs money to return money to the purchaser.
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted September 25, 2011 Hash Fellow Share Posted September 25, 2011 both Collada and FBX are supported. That reminds me of the "Blues Brothers" joke... "We play both kinds of music here... Country AND Western!"
