I am trying to get a hang on weigthing right now...

and find that I unvoluntrily loose the weigths again once in a while, that I just did before...

also I once had all my bones doubled and I don`t know, what I did wrong.

Any hints from the weigthwranglers around here, how to avoid these traps?

no, I am "flying blind" for the time being.

Maybe its best to look for a good tutorial in how it is really done first....

Gonna engage in a little thread necromancy here. I just had the same thing happen. Last night all were weighted fine, bring up the model and all are weighted 100% to one bone. Sigh

Could the two problems be related somehow? Can I ask how you rigged the model and if you saved progressive versions? My main question would be about how the bones came to be doubled, though that doesn't address darthlister's problem.

EDIT: I would also recommend Holmes's CP weighting tutorial. It explains everything and then some!

Doubling bones can happen by dragging a bone in the PWS while depressing CTRL. You don't have to drag it far and it is possible to do it unaware.

For CPs getting unweighted... haven't seen it but if you can make it happen, that would be useful to see.
