mel_y3k Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 ok...so i imported a .3ds model into AM: 2004. and it worked out successfully, but when i tried to build a different model from within AM: 2004 after importing the .3ds model, NONE of the modeling tools within AM worked! every time i would click on the spline tool to use it, the 'modeling' button in the tool bar at the top of the screen turns gray, and i can't even see the spline that i am creating! whats going on?!... Caroline Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Have you tried closing A:M, then restarting it? Have you tried Help Menu > Reset Settings then restarting it? Normally one of those two will help. Quote
mel_y3k Posted July 10, 2007 Author Posted July 10, 2007 i've tried closing AM and restarting it, and that did not work. however, i still havent tried the second thing you suggested as of yet...i'm going to boot-up my laptop give it a shot right now... Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted July 10, 2007 Hash Fellow Posted July 10, 2007 If you did Objects>import>prop then it will not be editable. Is the object's icon in the PWS a blue cube or a "thom"? Quote
zandoriastudios Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Are you sure you are in the modeling window? Quote
mel_y3k Posted July 16, 2007 Author Posted July 16, 2007 robcat2075, i imported the .3ds file as a MODEL, not a prop. so now i REALLY don't know what's going on! (the objects icon in the PWS is a "thom".) zandoriastudios, yes, i am in the modeling window. Quote
mtpeak2 Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 I don't think it's possible to add geometry to a .3ds file that was imported as a model. I could be wrong though, I never work with them. Quote
KenH Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 every time i would click on the spline tool to use it, the 'modeling' button in the tool bar at the top of the screen turns gray, Huh? That's what always happens. You just have to click in the model window to make the spline when that happens. Quote
mel_y3k Posted July 16, 2007 Author Posted July 16, 2007 kenH, i did EXACTLY that, and nothing happened...no spline, no nothing. Quote
Paul Forwood Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 Can you see the rulers at the edge of the model window? Perhaps you have accidentally pressed the "\" key and are trying to model in perspective mode. If you take a screen capture and post it here as a jpg it may give some clues as to what is wrong. Quote
KenH Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 OK then....are you in shaded only mode? Press zero on the main keyboard and try it again. Quote
