shaunf Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 I'd be interested in peoples thoughts on the little clip I have posted on my website. I'm currently making a short film for both enjoyment and education, so any feedback on the trailer I have created would be great. trailer link Click on the 'teaser/trailer' link. Its a 10.4 Mb quicktime file using the On2 Vp3 codec Cheers Shaun Freeman Quote
JTalbotski Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 Shaun, As I told you before, I love it! His smile, as he looks at the camera at the end, cracks me up! And I want to learn to dance like that, too. Jim Quote
MixePix Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 That teaser was awsome! Really cool work! Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 12, 2004 Hash Fellow Posted January 12, 2004 Very charming character. How about if instead of taking the glasses off, he squinted at a "script" and had to put some glasses on? That would be more in line with your "deconstructionist" take on the situation. :) But why VP3? Most people would never detect a difference between this clip and the same compressed to the same file size in QT Sorenson, but they would be more likely to see it play smoothly. If they can even get the codec to work and not everyone does. I think the differences in image quality are very minute. You want people to see this... don't make it hard for them. ;) I've got a 2.6MHz PC and still, the VP3 that comes across here tends to be very choppy. Quote
DMerchen Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 That was quite enjoyable! Really quite inspirational too. I can't wait to see more. :D :D :D Quote
Iham Wrong Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 Rignt on! Shake that birdy bootie. Hehe! Man, you're good. :D Quote
shaunf Posted January 12, 2004 Author Posted January 12, 2004 Thanks!! The daggy bird dancing is based on my own pathetic dancing skills, so I appreciate all the comments re: his dancing abilities. :D With regards to the compression, I've now uploaded a sorenson 3 codec version. (I just like the On2 compression because the quality of the picture is much better), but you're right, I want people to see it, hence the sorenson 3 version. The link is still the same: http://www.shaunfreeman.com/wip.htm Shaun Quote
kanga Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 wHHOOOAAAA! Do th funky chicken! The eyes are great and you used them to max effect. A real nice fresh approach and expressive animation. The On2 compression is about the best I have seen so far, guess I'll take a tour of the QT site (again). Congrats mate. Quote
zacktaich Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 Please post that on cgtalk. The stuff that is being made in A:M is just some really high caliber stuff right now, yours is included. I would love to make some stuff this good. Where'd you get the music? Quote
Zaryin Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 Great trailer. I can't wait to see the movie. Quote
shaunf Posted January 12, 2004 Author Posted January 12, 2004 Thanks! I'll do that (post to cgtalk). The music is Maceo Parker (a wonderful saxophonist who I think plays on a lot of James Brown albums) Thanks for the comments people! :D Shaun Quote
nixie Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 Genius! bags of character and a bundle of laughs, I really cant wait to see this project completed! V Impressed! Quote
Dearmad Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 And DON'T post it in the buried and always forgotten AM section of CGTalk! Post it in the appropriate main section. B) See ya there! Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 13, 2004 Hash Fellow Posted January 13, 2004
I've now uploaded a sorenson 3 codec version
This looks much more promising now that all the frames play :D . Except for a little flicker in the shadow, the sorenson does quite well. I like the little adjustment steps he takes when he shifts his weight. Those are nice touches. But unlike most trailers that completely ruin it by giving the whole story away, you've left us in the dark as to what this thing is really about. Quote
JohnArtbox Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 great animation Shaun. A nice little trailer that doesn't spoil the upcoming short at all. Bravo   Quote
