itsjustme
It looks like it'll do the job. Very cool, Colin. I didn't tear it apart, but a casual going over didn't show any problems. I put a quad version of the Squetch Rig in the cow for TWO, it might have some things you could use in it.
Stuart Rogers
I also added a second knee that faces backwardsUm... wouldn't that be "an ankle"? <grin!>anybody got a better solution?Nope. I'm always having problems with feet, mostly through the different requirements of placing the foot on impact and of lifting the foot on take-off. Heel-lifters help, but still feel clunky to me. I'm on the verge of modifying my home-brew rig yet again to play with shifting the foot bone between heel and toes with a pose slider (such that the foot bone moves relative to the foot geometry). With such small "feet" (walking on a hoof is like walking on toes) your demon can probably operate quite convincingly without such worries, but as the subject of foot rigs came up, I thought I would mention it. If you have the time, can you do a quick re-render with the flesh in place - it would be good to see your demon in motion. The demon (fabulously played by Tim Curry) in the movie Legend is introduced to the audience by a close-up of a foot-fall. The hoof touches the ground and you see the ankle flex quite nicely as the demon moves forward. I had this in mind when you first introduced us to your demon, so I was slightly disappointed when you gave him furry legs - that subtle ankle articulation would be lost! nimblepix
I still think you need one more joint to make this work well. hip/knee/heel/ball/toeknuckle

nimblepix
Good progress! I wonder if the pointer end of your second to the last bone is going into the hoof area too far.
cory
The Musana Warrior on Eggington's site has a good extended ankle/hoof type leg rig. But it also looks like yours works pretty well. Cory

AniMattor
It looks like it works pretty well. How easy is it to animate with? (I've had a faun character I've been thinking of making for years...)

AniMattor
[attachmentid=16418] I finally created that faun character I've been thinking about. Did you finish up this rig? I'd love to try it out. Have you updated the rig since the the project file in your initial post? cheers, matt

AniMattor
Thanks a bunch! I'll try and put it in and see how it goes. I hope you didn't spend too much time getting it ready. I'll post here again when I get the rig installed. matt
