dborruso Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Hi I just finished my a:m games tutorial. It is really part advice and part tutorial. It is really about getting your model from a:m to gamestudio. The pictures in there are really just eye candy. I don't know if they help the tutorial any but they make it easier to look at. Here it is: http://www.3dfrog.com/wips/am2gamestudio.pdf Well, let me know what you think and if this is useful to anyone. It may help just to show that this can be done. Thanks Quote
martin Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Wow. That looks REALLY good, Dennis. You're going to do a great SIGGRAPH tutorial, I can tell. Quote
Leo73 Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 I totally agree. Dennis you did a great job putting that tutorial together. I for one can't wait to see your demo at SIGGRAPH. Just looking at your tutorial makes me want to learn how to do games. Leo Quote
gschumsky Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Very nice tutorial Dennis! So, are going to see you on the TWO game project? Quote
dborruso Posted March 4, 2006 Author Posted March 4, 2006 Wow, thanks guys. I had no idea if it was good or not because I never did a tutorial before. My siggraph demo is going to be even better because I am gonna actually build a fun little character to do the steps with and will have him run and jump and stuff. I will have to have the steps done previously and just show the quick basics then go to the next saved step to keep it like an hour. I will be working on the froggy shoot out til August. If there is a TWO game after that I will join in. Thanks! Quote
triath5147 Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Hmm. I can't see it, not sure if the link is bad. I will try again later today Quote
capanno Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I said it once I'll say it again. Freakin awesome man! Quote
dborruso Posted March 5, 2006 Author Posted March 5, 2006 The link should be ok triath. It was made with acrobat 7, maybe you need to update your reader. I don't know. Thanks agep and cappano. I'm really glad people like this. I should mention I am using a:m version 11 for this so I don't know if there would be any difference. Quote
Obsidian Games Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Dennis -- This looks great! Although I have not used 3D GameStudio, the tutorial is very clear, and has a good balance between pictures and written descriptions. I hope it's ok, I've added a link to the tutorial from my 3D Links page. Quote
Motility Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 hey Dennis , great job......and thanks for doing this. I cant wait to try out your work flow.....This kind of effort helps lot of folks and even lets folks know that AM can be part of a game makers toolkit which is good for all of us too. Quote
dborruso Posted March 6, 2006 Author Posted March 6, 2006 Thanks for adding a link Chris. I want this tutorial to help as many people as possible. Thanks Motility. I hope it works out for you. It should. It took me a while to get down. Emilio and Triath helped me along the way so I can't really take full credit for the workflow. I want everyone to see that A:M is a great tool for games. If we can get a game making community going at a:m it would be great. People on the gamestudio forum have been thanking me too. Maybe it will bring in some new people too. Thanks for all the positive feedback. I have more confidence for Siggraph now. Quote
Admin Rodney Posted March 7, 2006 Admin Posted March 7, 2006 Outstanding Dennis. Makes me want to create a game. Quote
dborruso Posted March 7, 2006 Author Posted March 7, 2006 Get to work Rodney! I expect you to be the first student in the art of a:m games class. LOL Thanks rod, I appreciate the support. Quote
