martin Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Hey Mark, nice to see you posting your artwork again. She looks sweet. Quote
Paul Forwood Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Looks good, Mark! I was going to ask what ambient occlusion is. I haven't dared to touch those new properties yet, for fear of getting lost in there for days, but I am keen to try now. I'm not sure if A:M follows the same model but I found this explanation via a Google search: Ambient Occlusion It looks like it will add significantly to render times but I have yet to test it. I'm guessing that this is leading to baking lights into textures but I would love to hear an explanation of it's uses from someone who really knows. More very cool tools! Thanks, Hash Inc! Quote
TacoBallZ Posted January 20, 2006 Author Posted January 20, 2006 Hey Mark, nice to see you posting your artwork again. She looks sweet. Thanks Martin, we'll see how it goes. It's one of my New Year's Resolutions (To do more 3D). Unfortunately, most people don't stick with their resolutions, however I am not most people. I'm already eagerly anticipating next month's contest. -Mark Quote
Admin Rodney Posted January 20, 2006 Admin Posted January 20, 2006 I'm already eagerly anticipating next month's contest. Oh oh... looks like there's gonna be some competition! Are you talking about the monthly image contest, the mini-movie contest... or both? Looking forward to seeing more of your work on display here in the forum. That IS a beautiful render. Rodney Quote
MattWBradbury Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 There's a thread in the Lighting Forum that's talking about ambient occlusion. Here's the thread. Render times will be much faster than if you were to use a light rig, and because you can set the quality of your ambient occlusion it can go even faster than that. Quote
Paul Forwood Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Yeah, thank you, Matt. I found that thread after posting here. Quote
TacoBallZ Posted January 21, 2006 Author Posted January 21, 2006 Allrighty, will post further tests in that thread. Thanks. Quote
Dhar Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 I remember this model in the 2004 Siggraph CD. Good presentation. Quote
