Korken Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 Hi all! Well this is my first try to make a hole in a sphere. And I am very proud of the resault! Btw, what is this called? When making these holes. //Korken Quote
seven Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 perhaps a boolean after the mathematician Boole: http://www-groups.dcs.st-and.ac.uk/~histor...ians/Boole.html Or what do you call it? Quote
Korken Posted May 6, 2005 Author Posted May 6, 2005 Yes, I mean Boolean thingie. Hehe, now can i make a topedo tube for my Carrier. //Korken Quote
Emilio Le Roux Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 Do you have a mesh of that? I think that hole you made is among the hardest modeling tasks in AM. Very well done. Quote
Korken Posted May 6, 2005 Author Posted May 6, 2005 Ohh. I see, well here is wireframe! //Korken Quote
nyahkitty Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 Yay. Glad to see someone else has figured it out as well. Personally, it doesn't seem that hard because all I do is draw the shape of a hole and then attach to a model's conture and work from there. Good job. Quote

R Reynolds Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 I would be interested to see how smooth your sphere's surface is leading up to the hole. Please, try setting the specular colour of your model to white, the specular intensity and size to 50 and re-render. Thanks. Quote
Korken Posted May 6, 2005 Author Posted May 6, 2005 Shure. Not perfect but atleast a start. //Korken Quote
Datameister Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 Definitely one of the harder things to do in A:M. I haven't explored this specific challenge, but I've tried similar things and it's not easy. I personally would like an even smoother surface adjacent to the edge, but this is a good attempt and it would probably serve most purposes quite well. Good job! Quote
johnl3d Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 I did something similar to fake a boolean http://johnl.inform.net/pages/10material22.htm Nice jub on your project Quote
Korken Posted May 7, 2005 Author Posted May 7, 2005 Thx all! I'm just a beginner though i want to become a great animator/modeler. But I'm so bad at making smooth sufaces. //Korken Quote
