ddustin
Here's an experiment using flaming particles. this is as far as it's rendered. Taking about 45 minutes per frame. Need to make a few other changes. David terrain_dpllc.m1v
Malaclypse235
Wow, the flame effect looks great so far! Are you using sprites? Mal
ddustin
Yes I'm using particle sprites. Here's another version of it. The flames will decrease as the object gets closer. Supposed to look kind of like it is burning up in the atmosphere. Need to remember not to use anything with reflections, as it really taxes the renderers. Julian
The moon seems to be receding away from the camera very slowly. Is this deliberate, or did you put in an extra keyframe?
johnl3d
be careful sprites can become habit forming...1st you build the nice machine models now you burn them ..next you'll be using steffen's explode plugin to dismantel them Johnl3d ..didn't notice your modified post when i posted my suggestion about why they might not be working
Malaclypse235
It looks right then... I thought it looked like a (man-made) sattelite that had fallen into an atmosphere. Very nice work with the sprites. I tried using sprites once, but tweaking the settings kept crashing me and I couldn't get anything to look good. ddustin
Yes the moon was accidently receeding --- fixed that. Stopped rendering it as the reflectivity setting I had on the sand was causing more strange flickering. I REALLY like using sprites. Very cool, don't know why I've avoided them. ddustin
The longer I work on it, the less I like it. I think it needs more flames, some texture on the ground, and loose the blue area. There's something un-natural about the way it fly's in. Other than that I think it's great (not) David dustin1_4_05_small.m1v
Vash
At first, it looks like a plane on fire. But after awhile, you figure out that it is actually words. I like the fire on the ground. Very good animation!
Malaclypse235
David, Don't doubt yourself so much. It's a cool animation. Almost surreal. It's much nicer than most logos you see on tv from small production companies. Well, that's just my opinion anyways. Mal

Zaryin
Hey David, I feel like I hate all of my stuff after awhile. I think it's the same with most everyone. I like the ani, but I think the terrain texture is lacking. Maybe alter the color slightly or add some bump...?
ddustin
Here is the latest. The terrain is plain (or is it the rain in Spain?), but it'll do for now. The moon glows, the flames are just about what I wanted. I'll let it gell in my head for a couple of days, then revisit it.
