  1. interesting, with the two turbulences nested like that, the amplitude method doesn't seem to work. in the past I've made a fairly solid distinction between two attributes, but the fbm one seem to blurry
  2. for your distinction, play with the amplitude factor and the octaves if the amplitude doesn't work
  3. and i'm gonna look into using normal combiners to see how closely i can mimic what you've made, also, what would it look like if you put a volumetric effect just slightly above the ground, creating a thin misty fog look at the base of the mountains?
  4. this has lots of potential, and i'm really intrigued with this, i think i might just pick up attempting to make clouds
  5. I'm doing some quick tests now, and i've fiddled with combiners before, i prefer them over rigging, but when you say cellular noise, you mean cellturb? EDIT: Hmmm, my mac seems to hate procedural mats, always has, i'm gonna try this on the windows, it renders mats about 3 times faster
  6. so was your original vid using this add-on too? it looks really good, now if a way to make clouds can be figured out, i have some ideas for clouds, but never got to play with the idea
  7. oh wow, i've always wanted to know how to do that, as i've tried with decals and displacement maps and never got anything nearly as cool as that!
  8. That is something i can look into down the line, Maybe demo some skins that users can pick from and get users to do the images and what not to be more 'Anamtion Master' then when you pick what skin you like to use and change it when you want. The only problem with that is we would need people to make some art work and images since i well..... suck at it. Well, if you ever decide to go in that direction, give me a holler, I've designed several forums now, and though maybe not terrific with AM, I could definitely help coordinate some sort of forum design, just thought I'd put that out there. And I'm really liking the new AM Films, even uploaded a vid and it works smoothely, I quite like it!
  9. ah, was kind of hoping for a design change, i always love those Not that I don't like the look of this forum, just could look more...3d animation related but tht's just me, always eager for change!
  10. so you intend to switch the forum over to be more like the AM films, or will it basically be the same thing and we just won't notice the server change?
  11. oh no biggie, I was just wondering, if it can be moved I say do it, cause the AM Films site looks cool and clean and efficient
  12. i know this isn't AM films related, but I jut went to go onto AM Stills, and it seems to be several months out of date all of a sudden, and boots my login from this forum, is this something normal, like is a new AM Stills being worked on in conjunction with the new AM films, or am I just blind and missed a topic somewhere about this?
  13. Here's a quick update as I prepare him for scene 1 by muddying him up a little:
  14. I just CFA'd him to see what needs to be tweaked, and surprisingly, it's not really much of anything:
  15. yeah, nose is my area that i'm focusing on now, but this character is considerably better then Captain Zero, I'm really amazed at how much skill improvement there is after one model
  16. So, I must say, the second face is considerably easier then the first, who knows, I may have some char modeling blood in me afterall I'm not quite done as you can probably notice, the mesh is dense in a few areas where it doesn't need to be, namely in the eye-nose region, and I haven't made a nostril yet
  17. only thing is i was hoping to go through the nebula, but that;s ok, i've already gone past that shot and moved on to uranus instead
  18. As most of you know, my colleague and I have been working very diligently on ELZ, and despite my breakdown of sorts due to massive discouragements, I am back in the game and for the most part better then ever. The following vid is where we are at today with the opening of ELZ. Now do note, the dedication at the beginning is someone my colleague knows, and I had a lengthy discussion making sure he understood what it meant! Also, the girl is not dead if you are thinking that, because I did. Also, the flaming meteor shot is just filler and thus it is in low quality and not complete. It will be replaced by one or more different shots that don't take as long to render! But, aside from the opening dedication shot, it was all done by me in AM. Music is by me, the writing is by me, and the narration is my colleague (who also voices the main character, Captain Zero.) Now we are going to release this opening bit to the general public in a bout a week which is how much time we anticipate it to be complete. After that, it's character animation/modeling and things time. So, when you are all done being amazed and inspired in this video, feel free to check out the "Mech Modeler Wanted" thread, or send me an e-mail or something stating your interest in building or animating characters As much help as can be gotten will be appreciated, and from what I've learned, the more cool stuff you show people like animators and stuff, the more inclined they will be to help out in the project, I hope this place won't disappoint! Anyways, enough of my wishes and on with the show: (Oh, this is about 35mb in size I think) ELZsmall.mov
  19. you sir have a heck of a lot more patience when it comes to rendering then I do
  20. what, my user name? I dunno, not from the cartoons, if I remember correctly, I was toying with this Star Trek fan animation something or other and that was what I named the ship. I never really got past the initial idea stage and didn't take the idea seriously, but it has since been my screen name for the last 4 or so years
  21. you mean like make it a still pic. problem is that the particles flux and the camera goes through the nebula to reveal the actor's name on the other side. i just skipped it and continued with zooming through the solar system
  22. ok, scrapping the nebula idea, for the shot i had of it zooming in, when it takes up about 1/2 of the screen, it takes 30 min to render per shot, so i'm not gonna let it take an hour per frame by the time it takes up the whole screen.
  23. here's a good run cycle ref, there are more, just follow the other videos in the recomended videos pane:
  24. this will be a killer render in HD (this singe frame took nearly 4 minutes in VGA format) but I think it's cool enough to wait for (as long as it' not too much more then 7 hours) but here's a nebula based on the NGC7293, Helix Nebula:
