i've never seen a train slow down so quickly before it hits something.

Thanks for doing that. This might be the way I have to go.

Well.... Seeing how I don't know what that means...... no. The recess light has the Boolean. The Ceiling just has a bone.
-
Ok, I added a bone to the recess light, and turned on boolean on. I also made a cylinder and did the same thing. This is the result, nothing. The ceiling is just a thick grid. It also has a bone, but the boolean is not turned on. Any ideas? I was looking for a quick solution so I could try recess lights in different rooms and not have to build a special ceiling. (I know the lights in the room are a little bright, but one thing at a time.

I thought about cutting holes. I was hoping there was a quick method so I can move the lights quickly.

I'm building my living room (well my house really) in AM. I want to see what it would be like to install recessed lights in my living room. The ceiling is just a grid. I can build the cans, but they have depth. I want to place them in the ceiling and have the depth, but the grid cuts through the light. Do I have to make an open grid for each place I want to put a light? **I started to make an example, but AM kept crashing. I'm on a mac... is vs 16 out of bata yet?

Nice, How did you do the lights?
-
Well when I added the same model it didn't do that. I was trying to block out a few poses, and then go in and animate. (Trying to practice the lessons I've watched from the Animate CD by Cristin McKee) I did click on these buttons when I was trying to add keyframes as a hold. Could that have caused the problem? I have to say I don't know what these buttons do.

I'm working with this model and now when I go to animate it in the choreography all these lines are shooting out. It wasn't like this before. Also, I can't move anything smoothly, everything seems to snap. Again, it wasn't doing this before. Any ideas? Andy

I know there are directions on this: I switched over from an old mac to an new iMac. I have copied over my DVD extra and CD extra, but how do I make them appear in the library? I know there was a DOC with this info. Thanks

As a piano player myself, that looks great. I wish I had the room for one of those in my house. Nice job.

Nice. Did you use lights, or just surface color set to different brightness?
-
Thanks! You're motavating me to do more modeling.

That looks so cool! What is the concertina model ? I build a "Bender" model but had trouble rigging the arms and legs, they move much like the B9. Is there a post for that model?
-
That is too cool for school! Do you have any idea how many hours you have on this?
-
I just found this post from your other thread. How did you model the openings for the arms?
-
Very cool model! I've thought about making the B-9. Very nice. Any modeling suggestions for some who wants to make that model? Andy

Very nice animation. Did you make that model? Very cool.

So in the modeling window, create an action (on or off) for that detail of the model? I'm guessing it would need at least one bone. Am I understanding this correctly? Thanks!

Ok, I'm building my house in AM, and needless the say the file size is growing and growing. As I build walls, I put the molding, light switches, vents etc, on that wall model. Now I'm wondering if I should put every model separate so when I render I can turn off the unneeded models. So....does AM only render what is is the camera view? Will I save render times if I turn off other models? If this is so, I'm going to have to do some rebuilding.....bummer.
-
Thanks. The detail is fun.

I started building my house in AM so I could see what a wood floor would be like throughout my little place. A friend of mine saw the attached picture and asked if the cold air return was real or a decal. I told him I really modeled it. He suggested that a decal would be better because when rendering, the light will have to be calculated for each fin (There are 68 fins, and a decal or map would be better. (This is based on a 3D program he uses) Does that apply to AM? Am I really going to tank my render times for adding too much detail?

Very cool, Thanks!

Very good ideas, this should work, but I was looking for a flat head screw too. I made a half of sphere and tried to put the slot in it but it doesn't look right. (The splines keep moving and distoring the shape, even when I lock it.) I also tried welding to half spheres together, but that was creating more splines.
