Hi all Thanx for your help and input, I have managed to sort things out. I found a few problems: 1: I applied porcelain and somehow forgot to flip the normals, thanx KenH for reminding me. (something I knew had to be done) 2: I found some problems with the splines. 3: The main reason for the artifacts that were appearing were, I had added an aluminium material in the whole body of the board and added the wood grain as a decal, somehow the aluminium caused the bumps and cracks. or at least that is what I think it was. to fix this I removed all of the materials and decals and started over. that seemed to fix it. Here is the end result. if there are any comments, I'd like to hear them. [attachmentid=20944]

Hi Rodney All I can get right at this stage is a screen capture. (or if someone can tell me how to render a wireframe) heres as close as I can get: here's model as well. hopefully someone will see what the problem is. [attachmentid=20927] KenH I did use porcelain, and thanx to your post I remembered that I forgot to flip the normals although it didn't change much. I kinda like that weathered effect as well, but I have no idea how it happened. I traced out the shape of the board in topview and then extruded it downward. Nancy as for the skateboard thing, don't worry about it, (its not finished yet, I still gotta put the rockets on and some other stuff.) as far as I can tell there is no reflectivity set on the board. Hi Dhar Here's a wireframe, I'm experiencing all kinds of wierd things with V13j I wonder if this is not a problem with it, when I make a new component for the hoverboard, i.e the motor that I'm doing now, I can't lasso the motor part, it wont select.. [attachmentid=20924] hope this makes sense. Leo Jim I simply applied the decal as a planar, put the wood on the top and an aluminum on the bottom. also noticed the shadow. Leo

Hi all. I'm busy making a hoverboard for a project I'm doing. I applied a decal onto the top section of the board and gave it a quick render to see what it would look like. its far from finished but I wanted to see what the wood would look like. these strange markings have come up on the render is there someone that knows what could cause this. no matter what render settings or lighting, it appears everytime. Music video: First verse of the song
Duke replied to trajcedrv's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
Hi there I finally got to see it, the one on youtube.com worked. I like it, the idea of using primitives stacked together in the background works well. I like the simplicity of it. (Im referring to the background) one can easily overdo it and you got it right. I'm sorry If I came across as rude, It wasn't my intention. thanx for being patient with me. good work Leo -
Music video: First verse of the song

I tried, I really tried,,, I even tried it Robcat's way,,, waited for ever and all it does is count down and restart the countdown when it gets to 0 and the download link appears, it starts over again. I tried to just leave it, nothing, I have even tried to save target as on the blue letters at the end of the count down,, still nothing. I really would like to see this, as I am making a music video as we speak, and its always encouraging to see someone elses work... I'm beginning to wonder if I'm just plain stupid -
Hey Nathan Pretty cool, kinda makes you wonder what's in the fridge that gets him, he seems to see something quite scary. I liked it alot,,, very believable animation. keep it up. Leo

Hey Dude I'm not sure what you are using as a ref, but here are some pics for the detail ref's, or even decals. hope it helps. theres some nice detail on the larger image. other than that I think its pretty good so far. nice work man. [attachmentid=20732] [attachmentid=20731]

Sad would love to see it but cant get it downloaded, in Firefox or IE. Leo -
Hi Did you add the rocks in front of the ship in photoshop? it looks as though they are imbedded in the body of the craft. if you did then you should try to put the rocks on a layer and play around with the layer styles and drop shadows you could get some nice effects with the dropshadow distance.. hope I'm not barking up the wrong tree. it's a nice render otherwise. Hi all I have received so many helpful tips and things from you guys. now I think its time for me to give something back. its a model of a strutt I made with sweeper for the stage of my virtual band, here's a pic [attachmentid=19699] and heres the model, I havn't textured it, I just set the color to light grey, you can change it any way you like. If you copy it and flip it in the X axis then the ends match up, you can build quite a nice structure out of it. Hope you like it. [attachmentid=19700] Leo Framework.zip

Hey Leo I saw your name the other day,, interesting.. nice to meet you. I'm amazed everyday by it and what it can do,,, cant seem to find any place where it falls short of Maya,,, and the simplicity of the operation,,, maybe its safe to say it now,,, I think this' is heaven.. I did post something I made the other day,, but hey,, I'll put it in here again for you to see,, this is the bass Amplifier for the virtual band I'm making for the music video..
