hi man, may 08 sounds good for something simple, but don't expect to be advanced(unless you have allot of time to spare). do at least half of the TAO:AM(the manual thing), or what you think is important (any thing on animation is vital). but first mess around have some fun and learn from that. that way you'll get a feel of what you have and maybe even make your first model(mines was an apple i made in the first 3 hours i got to use A:M). once you've done that look around for inspiration, find some cool artist that you wanna equal someday( try www.cgsociety.org , or the A:M stills). you'll have some experiance, an idol, motivation, all you need is a SMALL project to start on.
but i have a question, can you draw? don't start a model blindly get a concept first(scan it for a reference if you can) and model that. one thing i discovered when i started on my first "real" model was that it turned out exactly how i drew it(not good at that time). when you draw well and know what you want getting there is simply taking your time on it and doing it the best you can. just like in drawing if it makes you feel awkward about it keep fixing it. when your proud of what you have sofar post it in the WIP forum and see what other think, the people here will tell you what they think and what you can do to improve it.
man that was long...i'm a long speaking kinda person(i love to talk about what i love to do). well, i hope this helped, i've used A:M for almost 3 years, i'm 15 now and A:M has inspired my career path. my web site is,

some times the order of the groups is important...try reorganizing the groups...if the problem is what i think it is....

i would neutrally expect a slow down since school has started and all...
but i can't work on it...since school has started an all...

what character?

lol nice use of BURN!

Since the texturing on the suit is mostly materials, you could probably get away with using bitmap plus.
yeah looks like texturing can be minimal too...

what are you doing a video presentation?
if you can't get people to do voices music can work just as well. i entered a contest for national history day and had only words, pictures, and music. i matched the music to the mood of the section having like 7 diffrent songs through out the video. the songs had no words to them just video game music^_^.
i got the music from www.bluelaguna.net lotta music from rpgs which are mostly orchestral music(try final fantasy first)

oh yes i had this problem before
using hair for a characters like these...
BTW these are like a year old....
i used hair for the wings on this one too...
i had to experiment quite a bit. the trick is you need to have cast shadows on for the hair. after that the line will be gone but the render won't look right. so your gonna have to work on your light settings mostly and not your hair settings(but those too)
i made a topic about this, i'll try and find it...

yeah it has a paint ball outfit feel too it...though then again if i saw master cheif as a teen i'd think the same...snce hes not gonna be all bulky and stuff...
-
yay another battle ship!!!!!

-
did you use dark tree that always shoots up renders...but multiple lights shouldn't effect a render that much..i don't think..normaly the most i have in a scene is 10 and the render is normally 30mins max...

oh yeah i saw that but i forgot to thx for reminding me!
-
sounds ok to me....what kinda format is the tutorial?
-
lol i like the idea...i think it needs more work though in design terms. i'm not gonna give any suggestions cause i think its something you should work on your self. good idea though!

did you turn on collisions in the dynamics?

lookin good man!
Modeling tut's for an old poly-modler.

one thing you can do is imagine A:M models as as already subdivided poly models. and model only in the lowest resolution setting, that way the model will look like a low poly model, simply up the resolution to "preview" the model. the only tutorials you'll need to spline flow and organization...
