  1. I cant seem to get copy key frame and pasted mirror to work in an on off "relationship"

I am viewing a tutorial that shows it working properly but in 15i I cant seem to get a result.

    Any ideas?

    much appreciated.

  2. Hi Folks I am viewing a tutorial on texturing by Will Sulten. In the tutorial he is using the hipogyraf and I wanted to fallow along with him using the same model. I know I could use something else but if its available could some one point me to it or post it?

  3. Thanks for the answers. I got a new job so I've been pretty busy lately, but I'm planning on buying trhe newest version of A:M sometime in January. So I will probably wait until then to try anything.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Jeff

Could you donate your Alien bust model for the purposes of deconstruction and a tutorial that I am creating? I want to make a video tutorial specifically on SSS, AM paint and incorporating maps like bump, normal and displacement as you have so masterfully done with your model. The tutorial will of course be free and I will make sure you get credit for helping to pioneer AM's abilities.

  4. Both are now showing...VERY informative and simple to accomplish, we just needed to be shown. Thanks Jason! (H264 did the trick, right?)

Yes the H.264 codec seems to universally play for everyone who has quick time or i tunes installed. And it may even work for those who dont.

I dont understand why sometimes mpeg 4 with a .mov extension sometimes works and and then sometimes does not work? Oddly it always works for me, but rarely works for all of you.

I guess I need to cave and always make it as h.264 from now on.

  5. Please let me know if you still can not see the 2nd tutorial if and only if you have.

    1. updated to quicktime 7 or later.

    and

    2. have tried viewing via firefox.

    and

    3. down loaded the file to view it via the quicktime player.

remeber to reboot after installing updating quicktime or it will not work.

  6. Your tutorials are always so concise and to the point. This one is no different.

Its an excellent demonstration of the power and ease of Normal Maps. (You make it look as if EVERYONE can do it... and they can!)

You might not have to redo this tutorial if you can just add in the part about changing the Decal Type at the end.

Your tutorial takes us 95% of the way... just a stones throw from the finish line.

    As always, Thanks!

One of these days we need to compare notes on the number and subject matter of all of the tutorials you've posted.

    I've a feeling I may have missed a few!

Here's the deal. You have 3 choices.

    1. do nothing and get nothing.

    2. Create a 5 minute video tutorial or longer with audio on something, anything related to AM, even if its been done b4 because you may have more insight or a new take on the subject. Then donate it to the community. Email me the link jason@jasonhampton.us and I will send you the data DVD's of all my training for hash that I can legally give away.

    3. Option 3 click on the link below and buy me something by clicking on the link below.

  8. You lost a few steps like changing the new decal to normal-map-type (it is still in color-mode) or the 1-frame-rendering-setting which is at 38frames in your video, etc but anyway thanks for the info.

    *Fuchur*

Your right. I will re do the tutorial. I was trying to keep the video short by having certain things done already and I overlooked steps because of that.

  9. Hi all! Happy new year! I've the last couple of weeks been playing with the beechcraft and a video footage from where I grew up as a child (I did the footage this Christmas with my cellphone). There is several things I would like to do different. Due to the footage I cant have the speed I want on the plane, and the landing is a little to short. Anyway, let me know what you think. Also, I don't like the smoke on the end, but I'm not sure how to make it better. Oh, and there is probably some scale issues too? I struggled to make the ground a lot more dirty, but this was the best I managed to do. Syntheyes is used for tracking. I might do some more work on it, but not right now

    Wow this looks great

  10. Thanks for the compliments Eric, Paul, Rusty, David and Mike! I don't know if it quite deserves it, but thanks the same!

Wonderful scene. Put it over at CGtalk if no one has suggested it yet.

Thanks Robert, I'm planning on it! Hopefully it'll get some good attention!

    Fantastic Lee.

The eyes feel a little low to me, but that's being nitpicky. I've never spent anything like this amount of time and complexity on a model.

    Beautiful :)

Thanks John! I think the problem in the eyes is being caused by perspective. Looking back on it, the forehead might be a little too high... Well, I'm not sure if I want to mess with it too much.

There are several problems I see with your rendering, like if you look at foot it's all... just kidding. Nice work.

    You had me going Matt!

    UPDATE

Well, this could be the last update. Here's the finished render:

    ironman.jpg

    1600 X 1280 (wallpaper size :D )

    Multipass 16 X 16

AO, Relfections, Patch counts well into the 100,000's (yes, I modeled the pebbles)

    Time: 4 hr 24 m

    And the wire:

    wire0.jpg

If you have critiques on the model itself this is the WRONG time to give them ;) What I need advice on is post stuff. Do I need to do any post? So far, all I did was correct one black spot on Iron Man's face, the rest is straight from A:M. I'm thinking I'll call it good though, and post it to CGTalk. Just wanted to ask your opinions first.

Thanks, couldn't have finished it without all of your support!

    Lee

Just stumbled upon this guys work. Its incredible. What happened to him.

  11. Hi Jason

I am running Mac Tiger 10.4.11, have QT pro and do not have that feature; do you know if there is a plugin for my version of QT that will allow me to record?

    Wally

You can use the demo of ISHOWU for osx 10.4. You dont have to purchase but your recordings will have a watermark.

    http://store.shinywhitebox.com/home/home.html

If you have snow leapard and dont like quicktimes free built in screen recording you can use Ishowu HD.

    http://store.shinywhitebox.com/ishowuhd/main.html

  12. This is something we all need to make a resolution to do in 2010...your tut was very helpful to show how easy it is.

    Glad you liked it John

I would love it if you could create a tutorial on how you ccreated that commercial with the falling quarters. Mainly just focusing on the dynamics of it all.

In the movie Benjamin Button I think they do something like that with the logo and buttons. The buttons landed in what seamed randomly but formed the shape of the logo.

  13. Important

In the video tutorial I set the audio data rate too high, this increases file size. Set it to something like 32kbs but no lower than 20kbs.

Remember the more movement in your tutorial the higher you need to set the

frame rate. Dont set lower than 2 but there is really no need to go above 20 because of the large effects on file size.

You can push key frame settings up to every 7 or 8 seconds which will lower the file size as well but 5 seems to work well.

I like quality set to 50% rasing it is to much of a cost hit in file size. sometimes you can get away with 40% but thats only if you dont have much movement in the screen capture.

    Enjoy

For people having trouble with the video above try this version below. I dont know why but some people can play the link above and others cant. I dont want to remove the top link because its better quality.
