Hey guys, I added some of the changes you guys mentioned previous on the run cycle... Thanks for the crits! But wanted to see how it'd look with the blur activated... http://www.vrcops.com/vids/RubBlurA.mov Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Hey BrainMuffin, thanks for the reply. They do have a whole bunch of characters but I don't feel like I should put together any sort of free ad for them, not to mention, what if it's really good and people on the net start seeing it and the company gets peeved about it.... But that's not to say I wouldn't use him.... but I might just go for the incredibles guy instead.... with altered logo ofcourse... Hmmm, but I'm still coming up short on a good idea for a short... I totally want to submit something this time around for the contest!!!! Okay, time to put the thinking cap on.... Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

A little Beetle Bailey perhaps? I too really like the style so far! Looks like it could be a great character to animate with! Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Hey thanks for checking it out guys! As far as a animated short or something.... I trying to think of something funny/worthwhile and clever.... but coming up short!!!! But nothing more than just thinking about it in the works at the moment. Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Hey guys, did a quick transfer of rigging to the other model I made a few weeks ago.... a quick pose and render http://www.vrcops.com/Vids/FlySpin.mov Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Looks great!!! Really, that was way cool! How about from othe angles? Maybe in the tube, looking out! Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

This looks pretty cool! do you have a time frame for showing us a finished animation? The renderings of the staege shots look great. Mike Fitz www.3dart.com
-
Yeah, I put a pretty good snap in there.... communicates a touch of deliberate effort in the run..... I think maybe with a motion blur it would look more appropriate. Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

The upper mass actually wouldn't play into it as much as you would think.... I would think. His legs are so small and hips are small to that his legs are not pushing anything out the way as he brings them up. The only question is weather his legs are strong enough to absorb the shock of the upper body wieght coming down in the run cycle. And sine he is quasi super hero.... my designs say he is strong enough that he would drop any further:) But also, you guys can't see this cause I'm the only one with the model, his legs are so short, that any further down, his arse would be pretty close to the ground. But I'm sure the cycle could be made with more of a drop and hip swaying and it might look just as good? Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

He is suppose to be more toon than not!!!! But I think one will get away with a nice mixture of both toon-erverse and universe laws:) As far as the mouth huff and puff, that's probably how I'd do it, in a seperate action or you know you can do that stuff directly in the choreography, if you select the model you can have the pose sliders pop up Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

John Yeah, I usually do 2 thing.....1 just chop off the tail end if I am going to loop it. say 0 to 60 in the action, play it out 0 to 59(You can do that in the prop window when in the chor, if you're looking for it) 2. hit the channels and zero slope the data. very easy to get rid of the loop hicup... I had this cycle play twice in this test and don't see the loop point.... Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Sir Robert, the hips do change height..... I guess you just can't see it too clearly as it isn't that severe of a change.... But, that wasn't what we were talking about... we were talking about the left hip rising and right hip falling, then vice versa right hip rising, left hip falling, like one would see in a walk cycle... Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Ben, I'm really glad you said that! That's exactly why I did not add the hip motion other than the twist. Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com
-
It does change shape, but only slightly. The shape goes between a "U" and a "W". Hard to do the huff and puff in a cycle, as it repeats, it would look like he's breathign way too much and perhaps heart attack would follow? Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com
-
Yeah, maybe, but they do twist. I thought about adding that, but didn't feel it was gonna add much to this particular motion. Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Tiffany, this is the link I was referring to... http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15281

Hey Tiffany, cool! I'm glad your kid liked it! I suppose that would be the desired target market, if this stuff existed anywhere besides my computer! Dearmad, thanks for the reply! The shoulder do kick a little bootie:) Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Hey Tiffany, thanks for the reply! As far as the stuff I did with the face... I used distortion boxes. I basically grouped part of the face, say upper face to one bone as a child of the head. Then I attached the other part, say lower face to another bone. Then I made the distortion boxes(the same one for each bone just mentioned) a property of the model. Whenever I need it I just turn it on. I wrote the steps on how to this in a question in the main forum about someone havinga problem with distortion boxes messing up actions. Just take a peek in there.... let me know if you can't find it. Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Hey Peter, thanks for checking it out. I can understand what you're saying.... I probably won't fuss with the lipsync timing till I hammer out a mouth system I'm happy with. When I render this final quality, there are some surface issue with the mesh from the distortion boxes.... More test... Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com
-
Hey guys, here is a shaded wirefram with a lipsynch test. I used dboxes to quickly create the shapes and to also to easily creat the rest of the mouth and cheek and nose movement. And no eyes yet. http://www.vrcops.com/vids/HeroPants.mov Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Hey Mike, first off, very nice effect. 2nd off, Great conclusion you've made about what items to put on a character. 3rd off, These simulations won't ever be perfect. The 3rd thing is something that I know have handi capped me in my animation endevours. I've spend countless hours trying to make things perfect, when in fact, creating an effect in 3d is usually associated with adding some kind of cheat to pull off the effect. I'd say, if you made a animated movie and included even a less polished cloth sim than this, it would go by so quickly that it would be accepted by the viewer. So, I'd say you've got your effect perfect! Nice stuff Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com
