  1. I'm posting here from the main mailing list so I can add this attachment. This is a test of a few of the poses I've added so far. test.zip
  2. Probably somewhat near you. He is outside Dallas in Midlothian but does a lot of work in Dallas.
  3. Erict2575 - Thanks and the center is not a 5-point patch only where 5 different splines meet. Mike sanderson - I tried boolean and some letters worked and some just stenciled through seeing all the way through without any inner geometry. I tried modeling the text but it was tricky on a curved surface. I'll keep plugin away and I'll post if I get anywhere. Zaryin - Normal maps might work. I'm having problems getting smooth transitions with the normal map plugin. I know it can be done though! Emilio Le Roux got good results over at http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...1&hl=normal+map and zenpsycho did a fabulous job on his own.
  4. My brother is a professional photograher. He used to have a photography business in Malta but moved back to the states (Texas) and is starting a studio there (Big Star Studios) Just working on a couple ideas for things he can use on his webpage (company logo/spinning 3D elements) He was looking for an old historic Texas Ranger badge with his company name on it instaed. I think he might be better off just taking some high quality pictures and manipulating them though;) Seven - I was just doing a quick test and used the basic light setup. I'm new to skylights but gave it a quick try. It took a long time to render and it looks a bit flat. I'll have to experiment more.
  5. What do you think so far? Now, I've tried engraving with displacement maps, bump maps and even modeling the text/engraving but never got great results. Does anyone know of a good tutorial or have any suggestions?
  6. There are/were some sites that have/had models available outside of Hash. Animation Pitstop had the largest - an exchange section and even models for purchase. I used to download a lot of models as a base and for insight for the models that I was working on. They're no longer there as well as a lot of the old model hosting sites. (The only sites I know that are still available are project files at the ARM - http://www.lowrestv.com/arm/ and models at http://www.koumis.com/3dobject.htm ) So, I'm all for having more models available and think it would be a great addition to the Hash forum/site. Now personaly, I wouldn't really have anything to offer as I don't think I've ever really finished anything;) It would be nice to see what someone else could do with the Kerry model though. If Hash sets something up, I'll try to locate the model.
  7. I took a stab a while back...if you missed it, take a guess you can check to see if you guessed correctly and see some early in progress images and references at http://home.rochester.rr.com/thekamps/3d.html
  8. Since you are going back to editing... I'm not sure exactly how to do it but, I think the shots of you as Captain Leo would greatly be improved if they weren't so smooth/modern. It just seemed the films of that time were more jumpy and quick (Benny Hill like). Maybe dropping some frames would do the trick or maybe there is some other trick. Hope that makes sense. And a little flicker effect too
  9. I always liked the cut-out style animation like used on Nickelodeon's "Blue's Clues". I really liked how it was used in "Olive the Other Reindeer" which mixed 2D and 3D. I don't really know a lot of the 2D apps and the ones I tried, I always had problems with something. So I thought I'd try it in A:M. because that's what I know. The ease of modeling, texturing, rigging, and muscle mode, all made it go so fast and easy. Here is a little test I did in just a few hours last night. (The character design is from a children's book) 7 layers (pupils, eyes, head, teeth, arms, body, leg1, leg2) - all flat objects 2Dtest.mov
  10. I wasn't sure where to look at first...then http://www.hennesproductions.com/models.htm Great job. I hope you get orders for a lot more. I know they use/make available a simple ball and man for student exercises and have Animation Master versions available too. Are they going to be doing exercises with the Spike model as well? Will it be made available or is going to remain just corporate identity.
  11. Thanks guys! 150 pigs and counting!! The "piggybank" contest is actually their 14th contest. If you have the time, it is worth taking a look at the 12 other contests (a lot to check out). Well, the contest is built on trust...so who knows. There is definitely a lot of creativity going on and a lot of talent. I can't model that fast or good but that is why we practice.
  12. I tried my hand at 3DTotal's threedy forum speed modeling challenge and this is what I came up with. I had to cut a lot of corners as I model slow and you only get 50 minutes. topic : "piggybank"
  13. I thought it was the squid that "inked" (It too can also change color) I've seen them do it on an ocean dive. Tis cool!
  14. The way it works is... You send them an e-mail 1st (when you have four hours free to work on it), and the topic is immediately sent back to you, time-stamped. You have 4 hours to submit your completed animation. It is usually held one day (Wednesdays) but this week they are going to have it open for 48 hours over the weekend to see if they get more participation. So come join in!
  15. I don't plan to do any more famous people but all your ideas may change my mind. I just chose him for the Caricature contest because he had an interesting face. I know President Bush has a face prime for caricature as well and would be interesting to do (though it has been caricatured tons already). Maybe we could hold a caricature Vern contest next. Thanks for looking, TK
  16. John Kerry - That is actually who it is suppossed to be. Thanks all. I feel better that you guessed correct right away;) and I apologize for stirring up politics by choosing to do him;) Thanks again.
  17. Here was my entry in the CGTalk A:M caricature contest. I didn't have time to texture him but was wondering if you could tell who he is and tell me what you thought of it. Thanks.
  18. Vern- Great work! First thing that came to my mind was that this could be taken into the same direction as Petey and Jaydee. Hundreds of possibilities/spoofs to create. Just a thought. -Toby
