  1. Hi Ross, Nice work! Your model is coming along nicely. Quick question though..... are you texturing your model with that colored background in the modeling window? I ask because, I often find it distracting to have color in the modeling window when texturing. Also, because of the way color works your eye ends up compensating for the abundance of one color by causing neighboring colors to be tinted by its complement. I've never liked that green that AM defaults to because of this. Of course everbody works differently I suppose. Keep up the good work. Javier Oh yeah and there are tesselations that don't repeat also like Penrose and kite and dart patterns; and you're right Esher is really good, if not the best.
  2. Hey Hutch, Have you tried toon rendering him? After I mentioned your model on that other thread, I started wondering what he might look like if you did. Just a thought. Either way, the model is lookin' good. Javier
  3. Yes. He's high density for animation; plus, I like detailed models Javier
  4. Ok, here's a wire frame/ model window render of him. Javier
  5. Yeah I know, someone else told me that when I was designing him. He doesn't have a nose either Javier
  6. So I did. I just didn't think anyone else remembered . I guess I just never needed to upgrade. I guess I will now though, what with the new hair feature and all that other stuff. Javier
  7. Ross: It's not my "first" model, only my first this year,as the title indicates and to answer your question: I am an Illustrator . natess44: Who told you that?! I'll be updating him soon. Javier
  8. Hi everyone, Just thought I'd post this so that y'all can see what I'm workin' on. I hope you like it. There's still a lot of work that needs to be done (i.e. the rest of the model!, textures, rigging etc). Anyhow, here you go.... Javier
  9. John, You might want to take a look at this thread: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3160&st=0 this model isn't in Timm's or Murakami's "style', but the construction method is good example of what a model might look like if you wanted it to be toon rendered and look like Batman. Maybe the creator of the model can share some tips with you. Javier
  10. What do you mean by Fox or WB style? Do you mean a model for toon rendering that emulates the style of Bruce Timm and Glen Murakami? Javier
  11. Hi John, Good work! Are you using reflection maps coupled with ratracing on your models or is that a skydome with a texture map applied? I just wanted to know how you achieved the interesting reflections. Javier
  12. Hi Kricket, Glad I could help. She definitely looks much improved and your beast model is good too. Nothing to crit here. Keep up the good work! Javier
  13. Hey Kricket, That is a very nice model. I think that you need to "sweeten" the greens in her ...bodysuit? because currently the RGB values seem to be pure Green. Perhaps you could make it little more yellow green or blue green to mellow out that harsh RGB pure green. Modeling and toon shading are great though. Keep it up. Javier
  14. Hi Bill, Very nice work. I don't really have any crits for you, except to suggest that you should stagger the growth of the leaves the same way you did with the branches. Right now all the leaves grow in at almost the same time and at the same rate. I think that would really make the motion "pop" if you added that kind of secondary motion. Javier
  15. Hey Jim, I just found out about this thread as well I had asked you about this character in another discussion, after you had posted a gif turn-around of her. She is definitely looking good. What made you change your facial spline setup from your previous version, that didn't use the radial pattern around the mouth and eyes? Javier
  16. Hi Sean, Overall you have a pretty good character. The pose you chose shows a lot of personality already. However, there a few things you could to do to improve his design. For example you might want to consider unifying his stlye a little more. By this I mean making his body more smooth and reducing the emphasis on realistic anatomy, this would be a better fit with his cartoon-like apperance and complement the style of his clothing. I don't know if it is your intention to have a realistic physique, but if you do, you should look at some real world references to get accurate muscle placement and form. It would be good to add some wrinkles and folds to his shirt as well to complement the more detailed body of the character, if you're going for that realistic-cartoon hybrid look. Javier
