  1. You have some nice poses. The action looks good, even if the timing is slow. But it's a good start. if you want to practice on animation, you're going about it the right way by working with Thom. When I was starting out I would spend a lot of time making a new character (I guess I still haven't gotten over that) before I'd do any animating, and since I was so slow back then I rarely got any animation practice.
  2. The shading is just the real-time render from within AM. I just took a few screenshots from the action window. I haven't decided if I'll use a real cel shader on him or not when I render. Also the decals are very simple one color images, and I think that lends to the cel-shaded look. Glad you like him.
  3. I've been working on rigging and I'm having some success. He still needs a tongue, too.
  4. As soon as I get some more facial controls built in he'll probably become my avatar. But i don't really need a logo right now. I just want something fun to animate. And I had an idea for an entry in the Lost civilization contest with him, but I dont' konw if I'll have time to do it.
  5. Thanks. With this guy I'm going to try to spend some more time getting a really flexible rig (especially face). I usually get tired of rigging before I have a really animatable character, and then the animation suffers since it isn't easy to do everything it is supposed to do. I've been kicking around some ideas for about him performing in a circus or carnival, but it will be a way down the road.
  6. I've been working on boning and rigging him today. I love weekends...
  7. I'm building him as a modeling exercise, and I'd like to use him to get back into practicing my animation. I've been too busy to animate much in a while and I wanted a new character to work with. glad you like him! matt
  8. I just wanted to make a frog. I've worked on him for about 8-12 hours. Matt www.animattic.us
  9. That does look good. Kind of rubbery cloth, though. I need to play around with that sometime!
  10. Here's a cupid :wub:I did for a V-day card for my wife. I didn't have time to animate him. He has only a skeleton and no animation rig right now. I pirated most of his mesh from my faun character, and pulled his feet off a critter on the AM cd. Lingthing is Ambient occlusion and one spotlight at about 250% from behind for the rim lighting. Comments or crits welcome, but I probably won't do any more with him now that VDay is past. matt www.animattic.us
  11. If you want response to a logo, you might post a frame of it. But making people wait to watch it download without having a clue what they're waiting for will limit responses. cheers, matt
  12. Nice! Very original style. A lot of CG artwork has the same style. It kind of makes me think of crumpled up paper. and the sky and lighting is great, too.
  13. Thanks a bunch! I'll try and put it in and see how it goes. I hope you didn't spend too much time getting it ready. I'll post here again when I get the rig installed. matt
  14. [attachmentid=16418] I finally created that faun character I've been thinking about. Did you finish up this rig? I'd love to try it out. Have you updated the rig since the the project file in your initial post? cheers, matt
  15. nice. I like the critters. A suggestion: make the color of the ground plane a darker green or brown. the white under the grass draws attention to itself, esp. after the camera gets knocked down.
  16. Sorry you've had no comments. You're off to a good start. I'd suggest moving the body up and down some more on the skip. right now the feet go all over, but the torso stays pretty still. Also, the eyes seem to kind of float. It looks like you're going for a stylized look (seeing both eyes on the same side) but you don't do it consistently. keep it up!
  17. It looks like it works pretty well. How easy is it to animate with? (I've had a faun character I've been thinking of making for years...)
  18. Light coming from where? It looks like you have non-shadow-casting lights. If that is the case I don't think you can block the light. But you could put some diffuse maps inside the chimney to make it darker than the rest of the room. Hard to tell w/out knowing more of your scene. (BTW, very good rocks. Modeled or textured?) cheers, matt
  19. That way, you could make the train go by in the background behind the other objects. If you applied the map as front projection, you would be stuck with no camera motion. But in a music video, I think you can get away with the painted background. matt
  20. Nice work. A few crits though: He seems to lose velocity just before he plants his hands, and then suddenly gains it again as he vaults over. Also, if his hands trailed behind his head for a little longer it would help. Cheers, matt
  21. Nice texture. The first thing I noticed is the beak. Birds' beaks hinge on the bottom, not the top. There also seems to be a problem with the texture on the chest. Keep it up.
  22. My website is up and running. I have the 3d stills and animation gallery running. I'll be adding a page for my two short films very soon, and then other artwork and photography. If you checked out the old one, come back and see the new one. Unfortunately, I do have some M*y* work on here. I have to use it at work let me know what you think. matt the link is www.animattic.us
  23. I've added a 3d stills gallery to my blog. It will be posted on my site when I get done. here's a shortcut directly to the stills page. http://www.animattic.us/3dstills/3d.html
  24. I don't think I can put categories with Blogger. I just used it because I could get something up there to start showing my work. i'd like to set up a web page like keith lango, that has a blog and a permanent frame with links to my gallery, etc. I was looking at Godaddy for hosting. They also offer 5gb storage, but not near as much bandwidth as you. Thanks for the suggestion.
  25. I've set up a blog at www.animattic.us to showcase my work and help generate some freelance work. I'll be creating a better site soon with a full gallery and animation as well as stills, but the address will still be the same. I'll post here when the full site is complete. Please have a look. Cheers, matt bjerk
