starving4rtist Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 I've been working on this character to use for animation practice. I'm thinking about adding a little something to him, maybe a belt or something? Input on that is really appreciated. Quote
Eos Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 Wow... very green. I like it, it looks like some black lagoon monster... but green. How did you do that material? Quote
Eos Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 Actually, i think a belt would make him look like some E.T, more technologically sophisticated, but if you want that appearance, go for it. I just have a suggestion: the eyes look a little bit dark. Maybe some reflections to add light in them? Quote
DarkLimit Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 starving4rtist - cool character; I just think his body needs some personality... Like his head, neck arms and legs...... Cuz he looks a bit out of proportion..... I look forward to more updates..... Quote
starving4rtist Posted November 3, 2004 Author Posted November 3, 2004 How did you do that material? It's the darktree 'cottoball' texture that I modified. Thanks for the comments so far! I'll post updates when they're made. Quote
entity Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 Maybe give him a weird hat and a crazy belt. His feet, I would think could stand to be "like" his hands more. That may make his proportions more equalized. And as a side suggestion: maybe he could have a bulbous neck that inflates when he talks or something-- or maybe even jiggle? But that is totally up to you... because it could be a little overkill. Quote
ddustin Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 I agree with making his hands look like his feet. The blue in it's eyes seems out of place. Looks very good otherwise. David Quote
Guest mrsl13 Posted November 3, 2004 Posted November 3, 2004 Hey, I like him/it.....would like to see a closeup of his/its face though.....the body porportions seem fine to me for the character, sense its not modeled after any true being that I know of.....good imagination... Mike C. Quote
starving4rtist Posted November 3, 2004 Author Posted November 3, 2004 Thanks for all the replies! I think for now I'm going to leave the feet as they are, I still have plenty of work with rigging/smartskin on different parts of the model. If I get some spare time in the future I might try out some new feet. I changed the blue in his eyes to a lighter blue, which helps a lot to make them stand out. I might get a picture up later. Quote
starving4rtist Posted November 3, 2004 Author Posted November 3, 2004 My first animation test. Just to make sure everything's working properly. http://mvandeweghe.ath.cx/walktest.mov Quote
starving4rtist Posted November 5, 2004 Author Posted November 5, 2004 Keytar animation test...more an excuse to bump this thread than anything. Hopefully I'll have some better stuff soon. http://mvandeweghe.ath.cx/keytar.mov Quote
hypnomike Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 Thanks for bumping your thread Mark, I missed it first time around. Cool character, I remember seeing the guitar shaped keyboard many years ago, have they caught on, or have I been under a rock all those years? Keep posting. Quote
turbokitty77 Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 How about adding secondary motion such as finger movement? Nice start. Quote
starving4rtist Posted November 7, 2004 Author Posted November 7, 2004 How about adding secondary motion such as finger movement? Nice start. I'll do that on my next animation. At the time of these I only had the fingers of one hand rigged... I've made a site to track my progress with this model and animations. If anyone's interested, here's the link: http://mvandeweghe.ath.cx/ (This site was also made for me to learn dreamweaver, so please excuse the simplicity of it...) Thanks for the comments so far!
