Dalemation Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 I`ve just come back to this after working on other things so thought I`d post the latest of my Spooky forest images. Quote
mtpeak2 Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 Looks real good. The fog could be toned down alittle though. For a spooky forest it seems abit bright. I,ve always wanted to do a scene like that. Keep up the good work. Quote
adamjames Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 I agree about the brightness....what you want is an eerie glow. Good work. Adam Quote
DarkLimit Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 Nice layout you got here Dale, The trees are nicely done.... But I don't get a scary feeling when I look at your image, I think overall it's a bit too bright..You seem to like the idea of the green mist then I think you should let it drive the mood of the scene, let that be the brightest then have everything else fade in contrast; getting darker and darker.. The trees to the far left and right their roots should not be seen in my opinion, Make the viewer wonder what's in the dark...... hope this helps, Keep up the good work. Quote
HeadlessBill Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 It does look very good. Though I do have to reiterate that it does seem a bit bright. Some suggestions that might make it spookier (in my opinion). I think that the fog should get darker where it gets denser rather than brighter (I have no idea how to do that with volumetrics, though). It might help in creating the spooky feeling more spookier. Also, for composition, I might move the camera just off one side of the path and aim it towards just off the opposite side of the path. Having the path disappear behind the trees before you reach the horizon line would add the the spookyness factor as well. Quote
lazz Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 Headless Bill gave me an idea. how about titlting the camera so its not level. It could add that tad bit of spookiness to really give someone the shivers. Quote
Dalemation Posted May 28, 2004 Author Posted May 28, 2004 Wow, thanks for the great advice everyone. I never expected this many replies and you`ve given me lots to think about. I`m at work at the moment so haven`t got time to go into detail but the project is for kids so I don`t want the forest to be too scary but, I agree, it does need to be darker. I will try and post an update tonight. Thanks everyone Quote
KingSalami Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 great scene, mushrooms seem a little cheery for the scene, maybe try some different colors on them. I also though some of the branches could be more menacing, you know the Disney hand/claw branch type thing. Quote
