Decals Should be simple to do, Right?

Trying to apply a decal as cookie cutter to a grid that will be curved slightly. Image has alpha and looks fine in Photoshop, alpha is clear w/black all around. See attached pics.

Am I the only one who has constant problems with everything I try to do in AM?????  Always loved AM but AM don't love me BACK.

I'm sure its something stupidly obvious. Any help appreciated-sorry to be such a painus in the anus.

Are the normals reversed for those 3 patches? Don't know if that makes a difference, just stabbing at the dark.

A:M will skip any patches which would not display any pixels because of the alpha channel. For most decals that is efficient, but causes a problem for cookie cutters.

A work around is to make a version of the decal that has no alpha channel, apply that, then swap in the original image.

They were indeed but still renders the same after reversing them. I will try that trick of swapping the image and let you know. Thanks
