Simon Edmondson Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Confession time. I've been using Macs for some while but havenot been formally introduced to them. This would not normally be a problem but, does any Mac user know where the "insert" key" is ? On a PC, if memory serves, its actually marked as "Insert" On a Mac no. ( at least on this one ). The reason for the question is that I am preparing an animatic using the Tangram shapes and its getting tedious having to key each one using the mouse. When the mouse hovers over the Make Key buton in the chor it suggests that the shortcut is the "Insert" button on a keypad. If I can find that on a Mac keyboard it could speed things up a bit. Thank you. simon Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 19, 2014 Hash Fellow Posted December 19, 2014 IF there isn't a Mac equivalent you can define any key to be any command you want in the Tools>Customize>Keyboard tab Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 19, 2014 Hash Fellow Posted December 19, 2014 Here's some general guidance on emulating the Windows Insert Key on a Mac INSERT key usage in Windows on a Mac However, I still think creating a shortcut in A:M that you find convenient is your best bet. Quote
largento Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Never having been a Windows guy, I have absolutely no idea what an insert button is. I never even registered it as a shortcut on the force keyframe. :-) Robert's right, though, you can easily change the shortcut to a key you can use. (I believe it's "Edit: Make Keyframe") Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 20, 2014 Hash Fellow Posted December 20, 2014 I think it must be left over from non-GUI word processing programs that ran in DOS. I've never seen it used in a Windows program to actually insert anything. Quote
Fuchur Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Actually it is not useless... it toogles between overwritting characters and inserting them additionally... some programs use it for other stuff, but in general it is not absolutly needed. Quote
