This is the making of

Both are worth a look ?

I just saw this on facebook (you must also be a colossal subscriber/fb friend?)- absolutely beautiful and amazing

Nancy

I live in a very rural area, my village has 120 houses. My partner told me that her high school in Chicago had 4.000 students, that's the size of the town I used to live next to.

I use Facebook to keep in touch with friends around the region that otherwise I wouldn't see for weeks on end. I don't post much on it, usually just follow up others links. That one was posted by a friend who runs the Animation MA course at Norwich. The two dance ones were posted by a friend from Liverpool.

Its a quiet life here at the pulsating metropolis...

regards

Very nice!

That's a great way to get realistic reflections! ;)

This is a nice example of how traditional animation can be enhanced and modified leveraging modern technology.

i imagine one could do something like that in A:M. Put your hand drawn animation on a flat and place it in your 3D modeled background.

If one can hand-draw animation...

On the 11 Second club forum someone compared this to the Popeye cartoons where they put cels in front of a model they built. What if the Fleischers had thought of cutting out those cels and sticking them in the models? They could have done lots of crazy stuff.

The only reason I asked was that I subscribe to the Colossal feed on FB, so I'm guessing your friend might also, as many times, the links you post have just been pushed by Colossal.

Today's lead story is some tissue paper stop motion animals (terrific) - from

or the direct link to youtube video:

Colossal aggregates an interesting mix of artforms. And so does My modern metropolis

Thank you for the link to the tissue animation, mighty impressive work.

Thanks too for the heads up regarding Colossal. I was previously unaware of it.

Several short 'Making of' videos are online providing insight into the making of this ad.

Here's one I hadn't seen until today that focuses on the 2D part:

These 'making of' video are short. This one right at 2 minutes long.
