I got an email back on the 5th that purported to be from you, with a link to a Boy Scout troop website. Sound familiar? Did you send it? Here's a screenshot...

Another possibility is that someone has gotten a list of people Gerry corresponds with and is tacking those names onto spam rather than sending something from Mark's account.

 

I think that is possible.

I'm guessing that your FB friends list got hacked instead. I'm also guessing these fake emails are of a phishing nature.

 

I have had 2 people so far, tell me they have gotten these fake emails from me, ie My name connected with an email address that is not mine. These same people have also been receiving fake emails from other people on their FB friends list.

 

That would tell me who/whatever is doing this does not have access to my email address, but only my name.

 

Batten down your facebook security: eg, don't let others see your friends list, or let friends of friends (or worse) see your posts, don't let your posts be visible to search engines, don't install FB apps, don't friend people you don't really know, especially those with 1000's of friends, etc.

 

My guess is cat's outta the bag for awhile.

Okay, I'll have to check that out. I've been off FB for some time and I need to recheck all my security whatnots, I believe that's what they're called.

 

EDIT: but more important is that it's not Mark's email.

Nope. Not from me. If they had hijacked my account I'm sure it would come from the correct address.

You may want to check your spam folder to check Nancy's theory. It may have let through those because I've emailed you before.
