thejobe Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Found this software while searching for tips on editing. its called Lightworks and its full linear type professional (that's right Professional) video editing system that is capable of doing things that premier and Vegas are doing. but it gets better. this thing is FREE! 100% open source. i couldn't believe it when i found it. ive downloaded it and tried. i suggest all you give it a go. its Windows only (sorry mac people ) but maybe they will make a mac version down the road. largento Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 It says OSX compatibility is scheduled for "late 2011" I guess I'll just have to wait for the galactic calendar to roll around again. :-) Quote
Fuchur Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Wow! It's on my to-try list It says OSX compatibility is scheduled for "late 2011" Used it before... is okay, but Vegas, FinalCut, Premiere or any Avid-Product will do better at least for small jobs. See you *Fuchur* Quote
*A:M User* Roger Posted April 18, 2012 *A:M User* Posted April 18, 2012 Don't know anything about this one, I'll have to try it. I found a freeware program called Avidemux. It's actually not that bad. I had to download it and use it to edit a Youtube video for work. Quote
itsjustme Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 A friend of mine has been using this for a few months. I tried it about a year ago and decided I didn't like it...it's a little convoluted. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted April 18, 2012 Hash Fellow Posted April 18, 2012 [only slightly relevant]I recall reading that back in the 60's they were editing shows shot on video tape... by cutting the tape! They had some chemical they threw on it to make the sync pulses show up so they could see where the frames were. "Laugh-In" was edited that way, which sounds crazy because that had a lot of cuts in it.[/only slightly relevant] Quote
thejobe Posted April 20, 2012 Author Posted April 20, 2012 I'm learning it little by little. Discovering how powerful it is. It does quite a bit and you have alot of control Still a few bugs. But I guess they are still working on it. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted April 20, 2012 Hash Fellow Posted April 20, 2012 Can it import an OpenEXR sequence? Quote
