I'm missing what now seem like the 'good old days'--what we need is an east coast "HashBash"!!!

It seems like CG animation has been through its starry-eyed heyday (where everyone thought that they could start the next Pixar in their kitchen), and now is in a period that is a little more sober.... This isn't just our program, I sense it in the CGTalk arena too.

I think that there are still folks out there with hopes of creating the next big creative force in animation in their kitchens...but perhaps with the recession and what not the reality of trying to make ends meet is taking the wind out of the sails of the dreamers. I know for myself working two jobs and just barely getting by makes it tough to keep the animation projects on track.

  • 2 weeks later...

It has been quite a while. Last I saw of anybody from the users group that Colin Freeman used to host in Atlanta was a couple of years ago at Dragon Con. Haven't even seen the Hash crew there for at least a couple of years. I'd be interested. My wife is hoping for an excuse to spend a couple of days in Chattanooga.
