Admin Rodney Posted April 29, 2009 Admin Share Posted April 29, 2009 how do i change a fire sprite action in to a material??? Kellie, I'm sorry. I don't fully understand the question. If taken literally I'd say the answer to your question is 'render the fire sprite action out and use the resulting image in your material'. What is it you are trying to do? Can you clarify? The classic fire sprite tutorial is in the manual: Exercise 16, "Smoke, Wind and Fire".

Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted May 1, 2009 Hash Fellow Share Posted May 1, 2009 A hobo movie! Ripped from today's headlines! im trying to place the fire in a trash can... (hobo sene) In that tutorial Rodney points you to, there's an "emitter" object that gives off the sprites. Basically you'd put something like that in your trash can. I second Rodney's suggestion that you do that tutorial, it will show you the steps to make such a thing.
johnl3d
The fire "sprite" is actually part of the material so once it is set up in the material area it can be appled to any model or patch. tonight made a quick somewhat fire looking material with the smoke sprite in the data that is downloaded with v15 then applied it to a simple model and then thom at two diffrent places fired.mov fired.zip project need the smoke .tga in the data
Admin Rodney Posted May 2, 2009 Admin Share Posted May 2, 2009 Something to add to the trash can besides the fire (sprite emitter) would be a light or two used to indicate the intensity/color of the fire. I don't think the particules are going to be able to do the job alone. Depending on the scene (which I assume is at night) this will greatly aid in creating the right atmosphere and project flicker effect shadows.
