I need to create my 2D cartoon characters into 3D characters with ALL functions (Ex. muscle, skeleton, facial etc.)from the Hash software. I will import them into my computer and animate them myself. Seeking REASONABLE FEE QUOTES, time frame, and serious responses. Any questions, let me know.

Thanks,

Francisco

I think most people would require a bit more information before quoting you a price.

Before I quote I always ask to see a sketch of the character(s), as well as some sort of idea of the final look.

Also what sort of time-frame you wish to work in.When you say "all" functions -what exactly do you require-my idea of "all" probably wont be the same as yours.Maybe youve worked with characterand can say"rigged like KeeKat"

What is Ex muscle -is that no muscle?

-skeletal -I presume you mean rigging,

facial -do you mean rigged for speach or just eyebrows and if speech Phenomes or Osipa?

Do you have a contact email address?

If you wish you can contact me at c-wheeler(at)btclick.com

You are right. I didn't explained myself very well. I'm new at this. You can see my 2D graphics through my website which is listed on my profile. Yes, I wanted them "rigged like Kee Kat and the other characters" from the Hash library. The Ex was abbreviation for EXample:)

As for time frame, I don't know how long it takes to create a character. According to the Hash tutorial, some of the animators create their tutorial samples fast, but I do want a professional job:). How many day(s) would it take to create one character?

Yes, rigged for speech and facial features. I don't know the difference between phenomes and osipa speech.:(

I would like to see animators work samples and/or websites.

Thanks for your response. I hope it was helpful.

A reasonable quote is to be reasonable for both parties.

you are asking for a lot of work, so dont be surprised if the quote

requires lots of dollars.

I understand it has to be reasonable for both parties, but Im discovering I will be on the losing side. I guess I will continue to read the Hash Tutorial Handbook. It's just taking too long.:( I thought I would find professional animators willing to help out and negotiate a reasonable price. I don't think my graphics are difficult; just my personal opinion.

The lack of response is probably due to many people's prior experience with these types of requests. Do not take offense at this but your request is... to put it bluntly "unprofessional". When a job offer of this kind looks unprofessional you aren't likely to get professional people jumping at the chance.

You need to do more than write a few sentences with vague info and expect a bunch of talented busy, professionals to "jump at the chance". You need to see this from the other side. Think about what people with the skills to do this are thinking when they read your request. You want professionals you have to appear professional... without being misleading of course.

Putting the word REASONABLE in all caps... uh... is quickly translated into "CHEAP" in all caps. That will weed out a lot of people. ;)

Why do I always smile at everything you write, Vern? Its not that its wrong, or funny, or your misguided- you just make me chuckle.

Francisco, I'm in the process of taking some 2D characters of mine and doing a film with them. I can tell you it's a tremendous amount of work and a tremendous amount of learning, but if you get your mind in the right place and have the desire to learn and do the work, I've found it very rewarding.

A big help for me was Barry Zundel's video tutorial discs (which you can now download online.) The1st disc takes you through the steps to model your character, the 2nd one deals with rigging and the 3rd one covers animating. There are also other resources out there you can seek out.

It's by no means an easy path (otherwise everybody would be doing it) and it's not something you'll be able to overnight (I started learning the software almost a year and a half ago), but even though I'm far from finished, I've felt a great sense of accomplishment all the way along.

Good luck on your journey!

Where can I find the tutorials? I've been reading the Hash handbook and it's challenging. I think I'm more of a visual learner.

I checked out your website, cool graphics:)

I'll take your advice...Thank you for your help:) Talk to you later Largento. B)

Thank you... uh... I think. Are you implying that I am wrong and misguided as well? ;)

I wasn't always like this. Something happened when I hit my mid to late 30's. My brain snapped. Suddenly I became somewhat cynical and a bit sarcastic in a humorous way. I think as we age our brains start to swell from all the accumulated experience and it starts to leak. It must be all of those Gilligan Island and MASH reruns... with a little Charlie's Angels. (Jacqueline Smith is still hot! Have you seen her recently?)

Majestic I have done Cartoon character fully rigged for $200 per model. you can check out my site and example here.

http://www.gentlechifitness.com/wip.htm

I have done realism head for $150 and body for another $150. Cartoon head would be easier to do and the body likewise so I reflect that in the price. But here the catch I keep the price down low if I don't have to do revision of the model that drag on for weeks. So I keep you posted on the progress and you can speak up as we go along. I aim to get at least $20 per hour.

I would have to see the design of the cartoon to make a final bid.

I am sorry I haven't posted earlier, and don't know if you found someone.

Not that I have the skills to do this, just curious. Are the plush toys based off the 2D characters, or are the 2D characters based off the plush toys?

I have done realism head for $150

DAMN! That's good to know.. I might be contacting you as well if I don't have time to figure out what I need in the near future.
