Cho files are generally not an input to your animation project, rather the result. If you are starting a project, you place your models into an empty choreography. After you have posed or animated your characters, you can save it as a separate cho file or better yet, just save the project. The choreography is saved as part of the project.

Exactly. A cho-file only containts of informations what (names) should be included and so on. The real information-container like Models (*.mdl), Actions (*.act) and/or Projectfiles (*.prj) would although be needed to get the *.cho-file to work. Projektfiles can containt all the other files, if they where embeded or they only containt references to these files. Both is possible and used in different circumstances.

In General, PRJ- and MDL-Files can be found on the Extra-DVD or occuasional on the net. There is however no website (I know of) where a big library of them is hosted, or something like that.

If you want to share a project, I recommend to embed all and to get the textures, etc. consolidate the file after that into a new folder.

The choreography has a white "ground" model. The color comes from the lights that are hitting it. You can adjust the lights and what color they are to change things. If your model is below the ground plane, go into the model file and make sure that the bottom of your model starts a 0 in the Z space.

A:M uses a file named 'default.cho' to create new Choreographies.

You can alter a Choreography and save it over that file and then each time you create a new Chor all those settings will magically appear there for you.

Note: I DO NOT recommend you overwrite the default.cho file UNTIL you copy it or rename it under another name. If you reinstall A:M the default.cho will again return to the one created by Hash Inc so... backup any and all important files.

The easiest way to get rid of the Ground plane is to delete the Shortcut to it in your current Choreography.

If you want it readily available for other projects you could save the Chor out as 'default_noGround.cho' or under a similar name and open that when you need it.
