Steven547
Ok.. i'm attempting to add a light to my lamp so I can have it turn off/on, etc. However, I can only move the light left or right or back or forward. I can't move it up or down?? I press the "N" key but the only option is left or right. What is going on? Anyone?
Dhar
I had just opened up Lamp2 model from the library. I then right-clicked in the model window New > Light. Went into bone mode and placed the light where I wanted it in the lamp's shade. I then imported the lamp in the chor window. Everything moves as expected, the light moves where the lamp moves. Is that what you've done?
KenH
If you're in camera view, it will only move along the ground plane. It doesn't do that in any other view. Or if you want to stay in camera view, press the 2 key and move the lamp.
Steven547
Thanks. I"ll have to try these. I'm having the hardest time with adding a light to a lamp and having it stay put.

Is that what you've done? Doing that now. Did you constrain it in the model window? And when I open the choreography, you said you import it....so does that mean I would have to save it first then import?
Dhar
I did not touch any constraints. When you import the light into the lamp model window it becomes part of the model (the light's bone becomes children of the lamp's). Then simply drag and drop the lamp into your chor. window and move it about. "Hope that helps".
Steven547
Thanks! I think i'm getting the hang of this now. I saved it and it worked. How do I reduce the brightness of the light? I'm currently in the program now going back and forth...

Steven547
What does the "Fall off" do? Does that "dim" the light? UPDATE: Ok..just experimented with that. Definatley makes it "dimmer". Very nice! Just have to work on changing the ground to "gray" and the back ground to black. Then, hopefully start my project.
Caroline
And don't forget HomeSlice's brilliant tutorials: The lighting one is here, which has a good explanation of light's properties: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=29732
Fuchur
Intensity will dim the light. Fall off will handle how far the light will shine / or better how the fall-off of the light is. -> The transition from effected to not effected areas. You should have a look at the lightening-tutorials available (see for example here) and you should have a look into your manual or the technical reference. Another good tutorial can be found by the link which was postes by Caroline earlier... it is a good startingpoint. *Fuchur*
