Ghost06 Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Hi All Although it will probably be a while before im at the stage of recording and creating sounds etc, I was wondering if there was any software that anyone could recomend thats suitable for a Mac? I now that on a PC theres a voice morphing software which from the demo is poor, but I cant see anything that jumps out for a Mac. Also from what ive seen Adobe after affect is used alot, does anyone advise on wether or not its worth a look? Im not at these stages yet, but there will come a time. Thanks Lee Quote
Admin Rodney Posted August 16, 2006 Admin Posted August 16, 2006 The weapon of choice for the audio warrior on PC, Mac and Linux appears to be Audacity. Once you've mastered that you'll know what else you are after. Can't really speak to Adobe After Effects but I know some who own and really like it. If you've got the money Abobe Premiere is really great (I don't have the money but have used it). Rodney Quote
Ghost06 Posted August 17, 2006 Author Posted August 17, 2006 Thanks Rodney I will look into that , I havn't realy got the funds for After affects but now might be a good time to start saving. I may see if there are some demo's to ry out first before I empty my pockets. Thanks again. Lee Quote
Fuchur Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Hm... All of the tools are quite expensive, but worth a look... it is the choice, if you are using a Mac... I would recommend others if you use a PC... - Adobe After Effects -> For Post-Effects - Pro Tools -> use in Movies for Soundeffects, Soundediting, etc. - Final Cut Pro -> for the Filmcutting... This tools are Professionl tools... there are although good freeware and cheaper priced tools, but I only know them for PC... would be Soundforge or Audacity for Audio, Vegas for Filmcutting, and After Effects is state of the art anyway... AE is nice... but in the end you wont need it, if you can handle A:M right... However it can speed up some effects if you dont have to use real 3d-Effects but 3d-fake-effects in your movie... *Fuchur* Quote
itsjustme Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 You might try looking through KVR for audio software...there's a ton of free stuff there. Hope that helps. Quote
heyvern Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Audacity is pretty good for free. It has some... odd things though. To save out in different formats... you have to change it in the prefs... for the longest time I thought it only supported wav export. Also... saving in "native" audacity format... creates like 3 or 4 files AND an extra folder... I have no idea what all those things are for... but there you go. It has some nice effects filters... typical standard ones... the equalizer is crazy though... you can't save the settings! You can search out other filters than the ones included to do other little tricks. It has a change pitch filter which is good for simple voice distortions with out changing tempo. It has a noise filter... that... uh... well it didn't work great for me... but the audio I had was from a 50 year old reel to reel tape... I don't think there was really much hope for it. It is pretty darn good though overall. Supports multiple tracks... microphone... runs on Mac... and it's FREE! p.s. It supports some kind of... audio...scripting... thingy... you can like... make your own automated gizmos. Haven't tried it yet but they have a script that creates a metronome clickety click track thingy. -vern Quote
