Been messing around modeling Beavis & Butthead. Just wondering which do you fellow AMers think looks better. Below is a render of helmet hair and particle hair. Which is better looking?

Ya, I got a ton of B&B pics. It's just hard to take these oddly drawn characters and convert them to 3d. I think it looks good though.

worked on hair over the weekend. I've got a pretty good grasp on what makes it look good and the dynamics. Here's my latest shots.

Heya

Yeah, this looks pretty good. From what I remember, butthead had a pretty large pompador (sic?).

You might want to adjust the skin tone a touch, it looks off for some reason.

It diefinately looks like him. I would increase the the size of that hair a little more though.

That's about as close as beavis is going to get. I'm really just using it as a dummy for hair testing. I actually have a fully rigged beavis and butthead but they don't animate well because of the unusual shapes.

Okay, settings:

I set the thickness of the hair to 0.02' (I work in feet)

Set the surface properties add a specular highlight, Size set to 45, Intensity 15

Diffuse Shader Muhair

Add a second emitter with a darker shade with the settings about 10 below also using the Muhair shader. The thickness of the hair and the second emitter is really what gives your hair a good look. I'm sure another emitter or two would help give the hair more body and layers. I'll experiment a bit more and post details.

Your butthead node is definitly better than my own. I'll have to tweak a bit.

Update: Skeleton with weighted cps, smartskin, and fanbones complete. Facial rig installed with basic phenomes completed. Testing for facial animations in progress. I'll post some screen shots soon.
