"You've never seen a ball bounce like this"-AO Scott, New York Times

"Two Thumbs Up"-Ebert & Roeper

"Filled with shock, suspense and special effects this is the year's must see movie"-Sid Smith, Chicago Tribune

"Visually Stunning"-Eric Harrison, Houston Chronicle

It's attached for all who want to see.

Seriously, as much as I wanted to jump in and do my Pixar like, Emmy Nominated, Four Star, SIGGRAPH standing ovation, tour de force of a movie I took advice from some animation books (and animators on the web) to start with the obnoxious bouncing ball exercise. So I did.

Feel free to comment.

Note that I have not tried to put any rotation on the ball

No dynamics were used.

Quicktime claims that the movie is "broken", so it won't play...

Grrrr, this happend before when I tried to post it. I will try to get it to work.

I'm re rendering it as we, erm, speak?

I really want to see this. Did you use rigid body dynamics? And how long is it going to take to render? How long is it? Sorry but I just can't wait.

I posted it again and it's still not working, does anyone have any ideas?

Vash, don't get your hopes up, this is my first animation. It's just a ball, bouncing, then it bounces some more. It's just a couple seconds long, no dynamics were used.

nope, still dead. you sure you did it correctly? browsed it and waited untill the whole thing was done loading?

Got it to work! I had to put it in Final Cut Express then export it out again. Enjoy.

the bounce and everything looks good, but... I keep getting a purple flare after the ball, is it just me?

I think it's just some pixilation from compression

Hi Pixar,

If you haven't been there wander over to the Student forum - bootcamp 1. Download some of the exercises and read the comments - its a learning experience.

You have the bounce motion down OK - now you just need to apply a litle squash and stretch.

Cheers

Wow thanks I will get started!

Wow. So wait did you use toon render? or did you make models with decals and have the simple model bounce up and down? Ok. This is much more complex than I thought it would be.
