hypnomike Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 We shipped out the first batch of Sam Buntrock's AM in Live Action CDs, and we're eager to hear any comments or critiques from those of you who've had a chance to view it. Let us know what you think! Steve Anzovin Studio Hi Steve! I'm happy to say I received my copy (in the UK) just in time for Christmas. I like to watch tuition videos a couple of times before plunging in as it gives me an overall impression of the big picture. My impression after a first viewing is very positive. Sometimes Sam speaks a little too fast for me but that's not a problem as I can review anything I missed. He's packed a lot of useful info into this package and really helped me to understand concepts which I've previously found difficult to follow. I'd definitely recommend these cds to anyone with more than a passing interest in combining live action with cgi. A huge bonus is that you can do this in Animation Master without the need to use other (usually expensive) programs for compositing. Well done Sam! Thanks to all at Anzovin for your usual excellent service. Have a happy and prosperous new year. Best Wishes Mike Quote
Mega Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 I finally had time to start viewing the CD/movies. I highly reccommend the set. Once you see these movies you will truly appreciate the power of A:M. Sam does a wonderful job of explaining the amazing capabilities of A:M like post effects and then dives into compositing and titling. I think anyone that wants to utilize A:M to it's fullest, or plans to use any live action and cg, needs to get this set. A tip of the hat to Sam and the entire Anzovin crew - great job all around... Stuart Rogers Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 I highly reccommend the set. . . . I think anyone that wants to utilize A:M to it's fullest, or plans to use any live action and cg, needs to get this set. I'll second that! This is a little gem that's worth every penny - as well as showing how to do live action work, it also gives a very good demonstration of compositing. Quote
Guest mrsl13 Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 I must agree with what has been said so far...it goes beyond live action and has helped me in my other projects also..I am very hard to please when it comes to purchased tutorials my money spent here was well worth the cost..only complaint is sometimes I found it hard to hear Sam....mumbling a little...but nothing a little rewinding and second viewing along with a volume adjustment could't cure....excellent work all around though..... Parlo Posted January 2, 2005 Posted January 2, 2005 Thanks guys! I'm so pleased that you all have found the material useful, and that you all feel that there is alot there to get to grips with. If there is anything that needs clarification don't hesitate to ask. Apologies if I mumble a few times, when I was in the middle of things and tweaking away it was easy to relax into it all a bit too much! Quote
Guest mrsl13 Posted January 2, 2005 Posted January 2, 2005 Sam, No need for an apology, you could have asked for more than what was asked $$$. Hope you plan on doing more video tutorials. You go that extra step that helps out so much....very pleased and impressed. Mike Cossey Quote
Parlo Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Thanks Mike - with that kind of encouragement I might just have to! I'm got a couple of web based tutorials on the back burner at the moment, when those are out of the way perhaps the new year might see more video tutorials. Thanks again to everyone for their great comments. edit - Oh, and KNIGHT (the little film that is made through the course of the tutorials) is now up on A:M Films. Quote
somboun Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Hi Sam and Steve I just got around to viewing the video tutorials and they are amazing. Sam, the way you structured the video was very clear and organized. And I love that extra informations about the different between PAL and NTSC. Everyone I HIGHLY recommend this product. It's not your average video composting tutorial. There are many little useful informations. I see lots of thoughts and cares went into making video. I hoped this is not the last and that there will be more to come from Mr.Buntrock and Anzovin Studio. And also thanks steve and the Anzovin studio for helping making this video. I love all the videos and product that you do. Again very nice job. one happy customer Somboun --------------------------------------------- Somboun http://yojimbo1.homestead.com/main.html Quote
strohbehn Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 I've made it through the 2 CD's twice now, and whole-heartedly agree with all of the points made in the previous posts. I'ts a really well-done piece of work. It is very helpful to see Sam's workflow and listen while he makes adjustments here and there. Surprisingly, I learned a lot about the little details of using A:M (unrelated to the Live Action subject matter) that I wasn't expecting to get out of this. There were many gems including: - camera matching tips and techniques - layer models - projection maps - lens distortion correction - making and using traveling mattes - camera rig setup and use - pixel aspect differences and adjustments - camera settings - rotoscopes - storyboarding (a little bit) and preplanning the camera shots - light color matching There is, however, one thing I would have liked to see in addition: A 10 minute segment at the end showing (or discussing) setups for other live action/CG situations, such as outdoor scenes with expansive backgrounds, etc. Overall, a great tutorial that is definitely worth the price! Thanks Sam, and thanks Anzovins for the fine products. Quote
nyahkitty Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 I like the CD's. Purposeful, useful and oh so expeditious. I do have a question: I'm trying to follow along in the Titles video and I'm having a slight challenge getting the layer image proportions to line up with the camera. Please take a look at the PRJ attached to this reply and let me know what I've got wrong. Thanks! Titlles_build1.prj Quote
nyahkitty Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Hah! Just as soon as I posted, it occurred to me that I can actually see the decals in Mr. Buntrock's video, but I'm not seeing them in the chor window I'm working in. If I renderlock or standard render, then I see them. Strange. A reboot hasn't helped. I'm delving into earlier versions of A:M to spot the issue. Hopefully I'll have something to report soon. Quote
nyahkitty Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Yup! Ver 11.0t+ displays my decals in realtime. The layer proportions work perfectly. Later version does not display my decals in realtime. I wonder if this is a driver issue. This is going to Hash A:M support after I update my drivers. Quote
