  1. Dhar Great work. Really enjoyed the piece and was very inspirational for me and I am sure all the newer AM or folks refocused with AM. Cannot wait to see what other projects you may unfold before us in the future.
  2. Cyrus, Getting Am is a very good first step in learning animation and creating your own animations. There are very few limits to how well you will do.....it is more the fact the more you put in the more you will get out of it. It is up to you completely. Yes you have the ability to make your own characters and make your own movies of any length but be realistic at the beginning. Do all the turtorials in the manual. And really do them dont skimp ...take shortcuts......in fact do some over and over. As you are doing these tutorials have some fun and play with the many models that come with am..it all adds up to your collective knowledge. AM is very very complete. and yes that does mean a lot of things to learn.....but take your time. Step by Step. You have a great tray of fine brushes and tubes of paint in front of you (Animation Master)......they are tools......But it is the skill to use them that takes time...and practice practice practice..........but if you work at it .....you will make your character and your story ........ Welcome Aboard!
  3. Jam, This robot model is so cool. I realy like the clean and relatively simple lines you have brought into this model..yet effectively and convincely present us a cool mech look. Great job......please continue posting your works as I am sure you will be inspirational to a lot of folks including me who are interested in modeling mechs and robot type models.
  4. Hello Marni, Welcome Home. I think you will find AM and the community to be the perfect place to rekindle the desire to tell a story through animation. I am relatively new to AM but can ensure you this is a great place to be. AM is a deep pool but like all pools there is a shallow part for the beginners and the best part the forums have lots of lifeguards when you need some help. Enjoy!
  5. Well from my newbie perspective ...I was entertained and impressed. It is inspiring for me to see some of the power of AM in use and although I could agree with most of other suggestions...I think you should be proud of this creation. In an environment where we work in scenes of a few seconds and struggle to get the details in ....the length of your film in itself is a feat. Thanks for sharing this with us. Great Job.
  6. I thought that AM did export BVH files ..but I am having a bit of trouble finding where or how that is done. Could anyone direct me to a link or tutorial ? Thanks. I own version 12.

    Thanks

Hey Steven, Welcome aboard. Hope you have as much fun learning AM as I am having. And you are so right about the Am forums. They Rock.
  8. Hey Guys...thanks for all your input. I really appreciate all your feedback. Helps me decide which way to go and maybe trying to swing a lesser better video card and more ram at same time might be the thing to do. Thanks and when I do something will post my own findings.
  9. Wondered what folks thought as best enhancement for my AM experience. Currently have a Geoforce 4 Ti 4600 Video card with 128 ram and have a p4 2.53 processor with 512 ram. Having only been working with AM for ver 12.n for about two months so I was curious what would be best choice to get a better video card with maybe 256 mb of video ram or increase my system ram to 1gb. Sometimes for me choreography is a little jumpy when I have a number of items on screen especially with textures and sometimes my model manipulating seem a little quirky . So wondered of these two choices what might be best. Overall I am having great time learning AM. And I know a faster cpu is always cool but that is not in cards at this time. Anyhow would love to hear from some foks what they thought. AM rocks.
  10. Rodney, please add me to this contest. (just another reason why AM is by far the coolest 3d application out there!
  11. Hey Opticalflow.....You are so right about the depth of AM......being a newbie myselff ...It does seem like sometimes peering down into a bottomless pit indeed......And for sure the more I learn the more I realize how little I know..how far to go......however it is journey well worth taking.
  12. Great Work. The details in the boat and cars were truely amazing stuff. Must have extra long years in Norway? Keep up this great stuff .......Very inspirational for all us newbies to AM.
  13. Hey That was a funny movie. Really enjoyed that warped sense of humor. Great job
  14. Oakchas, Thx for for your welcome and noticing some of the exercises....lol.....Yes I had a lot of free time on weekend so went head first .......but the exercises do get progressively difficult so I will have time to eat some vegies and even sleep. AM is serious a blast ...and have to work a tad getting the modeling "ways" down but overall I have been extremely pleased with its capabilities if not my own ...lol ---- but that is why we are called newbies.
  15. Just a quick hello.......today was great day ...when AM arrived at my doorstop. Thrilled to be be in the community ....and am working on exercises from the manual which IMHO is very good. Matched with web videos makes for a very good introduction to the basics. Funny read some reviews of folks before buying and manual or lack of a more detailed one by some opinion was a negative. Well Im not sure where they have been last few years but to get a manual (hard copy and color) matched with video tuts is pretty sweet in my book. Anyhow having a blast .....with AM and Kudos to Martin and crew for putting out such a robust application and web community. (Kudos to the community as well!)
