I had always been a fan of the written tutorials because I could go at my own pace and not have to worry about pausing the player and/or rewinding to catch something I had missed. But having been stuck on the flower modeling tut. I went ahead and watched most of the video tutorial. I am now hooked. There are so many hints and tips you can catch on a good video tutorial that never come across in the written tutorials. (BTW, who is doing the video tuts. for the TAoAM videos?) It's almost as if a picture is worth like 999 words. (Hmmm. That could almost be a proverb, I'll have to work on that.) I am aganin even more excited now about the prospect of the new and improved TAoAM Tutorials being all in video form.

I am pretty happy with the dope sheets except for the fact that each word steps down further and further in the timeline. So if you have any length to your dope sheets, it makes for a very tall timeline unless you start closing sections. (Make any sense?) It makes for a very good start of the lip sync. Then you can tweek to your heart's content to make it perfect.

Alrighty. I am going to make a plea for you to post here or email me the working sonic model when you are finished with it. My 10 year old autistic son would go completely nuts if I could do a little bit of something with sonic. He is a sonic fanatic!

Likely. But not the case... I had already set them to zero. It's like the arms are just too short. I'm going a different direction though.
-
I did notice that one of the poses (sketches) in TAoAM does not seem to be achievable while keeping the hands on the door knob. It's the fully arched one with his feet both up on the door frame. At least I couldn't do it. I'm sitting on it for a bit as i think of a new direction.

The stuck door has no video tutorial because it was supposed to be thought of as like a mid-term.
-
I have been waiting anxiously for it to start... and who changed the name of this thread?

I can definitly see where it is easier working with a soundtrack or music. At least as far as some of the timing is concerned. Thanx for the encouragement. I'm not even close to quiting but it's all good. That's one of the reasons I like this board so much. You get some honest critiques (kri-teeks) with a dash of 'way to go'...'Keep it up'.

Turns out, at least on a Mac, you can right click (Command Click. I have a 3 button mouse) in whatever library tab you want and it will give to the option to browse to the file you want in that tab of the library. Pick it, and it is then 'in' your library. FUN.

I have come to the conclusion that animation is hard. This might actually take a little practice to have things do what I want them to. I do not even have the Stuck Door project to a point that I'm willing to share where I am. The frustrating part is I know what I want it to look like; I know what some of the comments are going to be, but it just won't come together like I wish it to. I guess timing is the largest issue followed by secondary motions. But we keep trudging along and practice practice practice.

OK Nan, linier did the trick. Thanx a bunch Slowly but slowly I'll get this thing. BTW, do you guys use the timeline that's connected to the PWS or what I call the bottom timeline? and why? Are there advantages to each?
-
Linked is a zipped project file of 'A Stuck Door' Project File I have tried to copy and paste the keyframes from frame 3 to frame 5. (Using the commands in the edit menu) I want NO movement between these frames. But in the timeline I can see 'arcs' flowing through these 3 frames. How do I make these arcs go flat between frames 3 and 5? There are a couple buttons below the timeline that I can not find the names for. They change what the timeline looks like. Just red dots vs. flowing lines winding all over. There must be some concept I'm not getting here but I know I need to.
-
I want to be able to know I am nudging everything backwards or forwards. So do I select Choriography1 in the PWS to know I can see every keyframe point?
-
So I'm working on 'The Door's Stuck' and want to be able to quickly adjust timing between some keyframes. *** I am working on a Mac if it makes any difference. *** What are some techneques(sp) people use to add and delete space between keyframes to play with the timing? There is a command in the edit menu, (can't remember it's exact name) that I'm assuming is used to do this but it is asking for four different inputs and I am not sure what goes where. I'm hoping there's a way to just window select stuff in the timeline and drag it where I want it to be. Thoughts?

Hi Everyone! Old user back from the dead.
thumperness replied to rusty's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
Hey Rusty, Most any head model looks good to me because I have not attempted them yet. Yours is better than most. I always seem to see completely different things than most of the others. What sticks out to me, is how the shirt looks painted on. It's following every contour of the neck muscles. Have you played with cloth yet? -
I was really disappointed to find that about 98%+ of the character models on the Extras DVD did not have Phomnems(sp) created for them. You know, the pose sliders for speech. Is it really difficult to make those myself? Is there a tutorial somewhere that explains how to create pose sliders for, I'm assuming, muscle movement?

So I purchased and downloaded the extras DVD content and using the Mac link Rodney sent me, I got it into my library. But not as expected. I was hoping it would have distributed all the models to the model tab and all the projects to the projects tab, etc... Is there any way to do that? Also, the content that is sent when you download A:M including all the tuts does not have a library folder or file. *** For the Mac ***, How do I create a library file/folder that contains all that stuff? Is it a matter of drop and drag like Will Sutton was talking about?

If it were not for the 'gurus' I'm pretty sure I would end up giving up on this thing. The more I learn and the more I experience, I'm sure I'll be able to pipe up with some answers here.

I'll work on tweeking my avatar...

Rodney, the libraries have always made sense to me in theory. I have just never been able to have them do everything I knew they could do. I never asked enough questions. William Sutton seems to have them figured out, at least on the PC side. No reason they shouldn't be as easy on the Mac side. I just purchased the extras DVD (download) and am very anxious to get all of it integrated into the library.

Since I am using this software on a Mac now, I have to keep asking if posted solutions will work on a Mac too. If not, I need to figure out who the power Mac users are and seek advice from them.
-
Turns out that I started playing with the library settings a really screwed something up. I ended up having to delete A:M and re-installing it. I'ma gonna pretty much leave those alone I guess.
-
Yeah, I understand all that. I am only trying to learn the ins-and-outs of the library and whether or not it actually works. One of my goals I have in coming back to A:M is to know the ins-and-outs of all the parts of the software that I use.
-
OK. I found the files, and can load them manually, so I'm good there. The issue now is that they are individual .prj (project) files. I'm not really sure how to get them into the library under the projects tab. Again I am on a mac. Has anyone else been able to do this?
